Vehicle Detail

1951 GMC 900-Series Diesel Truck. Runs and drives very well. This 1951 GMC still needs to be detailed. It starts, runs and drives very well. Air brakes work great. Shifts flawlessly. Good oil pressure. It is running in the photos, note the gauges. It does smoke when you first start it and it is cold, but it does clear up and there may still be a little old fuel in the system. Minimal surface rust on bottom edge of driver's door and typical rust for these trucks at rear, bottom of cab. All window frame areas are solid, bottoms of doors are solid. Floors are solid. Fenders are solid. Glass does have some typical delamination, but there are no cracks or chips. It will need some new tires. It also needs a new headlight switch, lights come on if you pull the switch out several times. I will add more details Sunday and hopefully some better photos after its been properly cleaned. This truck is equipped with an auxiliary transmission. It has a very large winch mounted behind the cab. Bed is a Lelland diamond plate rollback with poles on the sides that pivot up, a 5th wheel hitch and a pintle hitch on the rear. Would love to keep it, but it just takes up more space than I have available. A very good, useful, original truck. Thank you for looking.. *NOTE: Photo added of worst rust area on 12-1 other than this area which is limited to a very small spot on the very bottom lip of the cab at the rear center where the winch is mounted, the truck is very solid. I am told that all of these trucks had rust issues in this area. Also, please note that although there are two sets of rear axles, the driveshaft is only connected to the rearmost wheels. There are pulleys and large belts that run from the rear wheels to the set in front of them. I am also adding photos of the I.D. tag on the inside of the glovebox door, which shows the equipment this truck left the factory with and still has. This is the factory correct drive system that this truck came with. That being said, this truck is very solid for one this old, and it does start, run, Shift, drive, steer and stop very well. It is very original, complete, and still a very useful, well cared for piece of American History. This truck is very fun to drive and garners waves and smiles as it goes down the road. If you are seriously interested in this truck, feel free to contact me with any questions and I will give you honest answers in a timely manner. I will try to add a link to video that was made of me driving this truck through town before the auction ends. -Thank you
