***************************** I am selling my 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS ....A TRUE SS ..... 396 , 4 Speed , L-78 , 12 Bolt ******************************* **************Always a Butternut Yellow , in color , with Black Vinyl . This car has had a TOTAL FRAME OFF RESTO on a RUST FREE CAR ******************* *****************I have a lot of history on this car , I bought it from the original owner !!! ************************* ************ As the story goes : The original owner blew up the original 396 in 1972 . At that time , he started to disassemble the car and buy NOS parts to restore. 30 Years later I learned about the car. It was stored in a barn . But a clean , heated pole barn-garage. A lot of the trim and parts were kept in his basement, wrapped in boxes. He never wanted to sell , up until a few years ago . That is when I bought it in boxes !! .... At this time , I had the underside and frame blasted . Then sent the tub to the body shop. I say RUST FREE , I mean RUST FREE .... All original floors and trunk . They were all 100% free of ANY rust !!! The frame and underside were painted with chassis black . Body is Butternut Yellow (original color ) , base coat and clear coat. I didn't paint the lowers black , because I think it looks better like this . But it could be done very easily . The car was sent to a restoration shop to be put together . There is very few aftermarket trim pieces on this car because he had some NOS , but the car was only 4 years old when it was stored . All the stainlees trim , grill and emblems were excellent. The interior is redone with Legendary seat covers , door panels , head liner and carpet . Dash and gauges are original and excellent also . The motor is not #'s matching . I wish it was , but that motor was gone 40 years ago . It does have a rebuilt Big Block . Approx. 450 HP . Runs on pump gas . Always starts and idles. Im sure it is better than the original 375 HP. The trans is a Munsie M21 , has also been rebuilt . Everything has been replaced or rebuilt . Just like you would expect on a frame off resto. Brakes , lines , E Brake , Fuel lines , tank , sender , shocks, complete front end , exhaust , rear end ( original 12 bolt posi ) . The car came with 2 sets of hub caps . Don't know which was original , the buyer gets both sets . Under the hood , all is new also , radiator , wiper motor , brake booster , heater , fan and core . Wiring is original , in excellent condition. I had this car put together right , I planned on keeping this for a long time . But I spent more money than I wanted, and with 3 kids to put through school, and personal expenses , I just cant justify keeping this car any longer .......... My loss is your gain ..............
