THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!!! I am here to sell. I AM RE-LISTING DUE TO A NON-PAYER DB! GET ALL OF YOUR MONEY, LOANS OR SIGNIFICANT OTHERS PERMISSIONS IN ORDER BEFORE BIDDING! I'M TIRED OF WASTING MY TIME AND MONEY! IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN JOY RIDES OR GAWKING GO TO A DEALERSHIP OR A CAR SHOW. SORRY FOR THE RANT TO ALL THE GENUINELY INTERESTED PARTIES OUT THERE! Up for Auction is a super clean immaculate 1979 Chrysler 300 Special Edition model of which only 3,811 or so were produced in 1979 and fewer so (some 335 units), with the rare T-Top (T-bar in Chrysler Speak) option. This car was originally conceived by Chrysler as a mid '79 package (Nov '78) and continued the company's tradition of unique models and packages designed to generate sales floor traffic. Today, this car is viewed as a "Cool Cruiser" but stays MOPAR through and through. Based on the famous B-Body Platform of 1971-1974, these were truly the last B-Body Mopars you could buy and one that will certainly continue to gain interest in the eye of the Enthusiast and Collector alike as the last of the Old Chrysler Corporations offerings in the Rear Wheel Drive Segment that had any performance pretensions. They are finally getting some respect that they deserve! I purchased this car back in Oct of 2011. This car was a proverbial "little old lady" car that had seen minimal use for some 20 years, only to be driven every now and then to keep all the parts and pieces moving. Actually, it was her husbands and she rarely drove it after he passed away. Though they lived in Tarzana, Ca the widow, Clara said that her husband would always buy cars out of state in Az typically Phoenix because he thought he got a better deal. She owned the car until late1999. The gentleman I bought it from bought it from her and owned it for 11 years. I am the third owner. The guy I bought it from did quite a bit of maintenance work to bring it up to driver status from sitting, mostly just routine maintenance type stuff for reliability. The car originated from Dana Brothers Chrysler-Plymouth in Tempe, Az and has remained in the southwest most of its life (SoCal L.A. area) until 1999, Scottsdale, AZ from 1999-2005 and for the next 6 years in North Carolina. I drove the car from North Carolina to Ohio in Oct 2011. The low mileage and overall preserved condition of this 300, indicate it was used mainly for pleasure and/or good weather driving. I have alot of the original paperwork including all the recent paperwork of things I have done to the car. You just have to look at the car to realize that there is a ton of originality present. As it stands, this car shows very well in it's present state, yet it is a true "driver" in every sense and can be enjoyed immediately! This 300 is a two fender tag car full of options; This cars window sticker totaled nearly $11,000 + dollars after all was orignaly ordered and delivered! In my opinion, the nicest option on this car is the T-BAR Roof option. These cars were shipped from Chrysler to American Sunroof Corporation (ASC- see pic of door) for modification to the roof which included T-top installation and reinforcement and then returned to the factory for finishing. So few were made with them; When was the last time you saw a '79 Chrysler 300 much less one with T-Tops?! As for luxury options, it has a power antenna, a power trunk release that works. The cruise control works, tilt wheel functions, all the lights in the interior work, even the sun visor vanity mirror lights. The power windows work, the power door locks work, all the gauges in the rallye cluster work, including the FACTORY Tachometer!. All exterior lights work, the wipers, the blower fan for the heater and a/c works. The a/c compressor engages and the A/C is cold. Mechanically, this car came through with what I believe was Chrysler's best drivetrain option for the times. The E58 (code for HI-PERF 360) premium 360 4 barrel motor, mated to a A-727 non lockup, factory hi-stall set up. This engine has the really rare BLACK valve covers which I personally have never seen on another '79 E58 or '79 300 in 25 years of seeing these cars at shows and for sale. An excerpt from Car Craft magazine in 1977 "Chrysler builds special 360ci four-barrel motors for use in some applications . Identifiable by their black valve covers, Premium 360ci powerplants are produced with special care for use in Lean-Burn Police and High-Performance vehicles. Composed of specially prepared, hand-picked pieces (block, heads, pistons) these motors are test run on natural gas and then torn down and inspected for scuffing and wear in critical areas. Considering the extra effort involved in the low volume of production (at this point), Chrysler probably barely breaks even on the motors' cost. Enthusiasts may have encountered difficulty obtaining this particular powerplant throughout 1976 and early 1977 since there have been some problems with vehicle noise levels. But as of this writing, Chrysler's Windsor, Canada engine plant has already turned out approximately 1000 units for extra-duty consumption with even more of the good motors on the way." It's kind of strange to read this, considering that NO manufacturer today would even consider such a low production volume engine. Anyway, the engine on this car starts and runs smooth and burns very clean! This car is an N95 California emissions package car and has all 3 of the original catalytic convertors and the AIR air injection pump intact. Also the original ESC (Electronic Spark Control) system is intact and operating flawlessly so I left it alone. When I got the car I changed the plugs, Air filter, oil change, and cooling system flush. I also rebuilt the Thermoquad and sealed the well-jets (which were and do typically leak). I also replaced a bunch of rubber hoses under-hood that were dried out, mostly emissions related (gas vapors). The brakes are in good shape, fronts are 12 inch disk, rears are 11x2.5" drums and steering is the "factory firm feel" type. It has Heavy Duty sway bars both front and rear. This was part of the 300 package! Suspension is nice and tight The interior is in excellent shape! Dashpad is nice, no cracks, bezels and all 300 specific stuff is there T-tops DO NOT LEAK seals are perfect, I will tell you I have not seen a drop of water coming in. The leather seats are nice and supple. The Exterior: This car is 100% original when it comes to the exterior appearance. If you look at the pictures, you will see how nice the undercarriage is. The chrome is in excellent shape! THIS '79 Chrysler 300 is a great car for the next owner to enjoy. I like the fact it is untouched for the most part cosmetically (what you see is what you get)! You can only be original ONCE. The paint is very nice and looks great at a show or cruise. I have tried to describe this vehicle as best as I possibly could. The car is a great find and anyone who sees the pictures and/or ends up winning this auction will be VERY PLEASED with their purchase. There are some minor things that the perfectionist will want to address, but overall this is a nice car to cruise in. It is totally reliable. This 1979 Chrysler 300 is being Sold in "AS IS" Condition with no warranties or guarantees stated or implied. I reserve the right to end this auction at anytime since I do have it being advertised being "For Sale" locally where I live. I encourage anyone who is interested to come and see for themselves before they bid. You will not be disappointed. I have MANY OTHER PHOTOS that I can provide upon request. Please ask any and all questions you may have before you bid and/or win the item. You are bidding to own, not to come and just "look" at the car. I don't tolerate joker bidders and I am serious about selling the car. Anyone with low or negative feedback must contact me first before bidding otherwise, I will cancel your bid. Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements. I will work with you should you need me to be present at time of pickup. You will receive a TITLE in my name signed by me and notorized at the time of transaction and all associated paperwork that I have. If you want to get into a great car, that is fun to drive, fairly cheap then this is the car for You! Bid with Confidence as I have a Great Feeback rating, especially with car type sales transactions here on EBay. Thanks and Good Luck!!! Additional NOTE: for those with low or negative feedback, if you are trying to contact me, Please use the "ASK THE SELLER A QUESTION" feature provided here on ebay and I will reply promptly! THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION; FIRST BID WINS THE CAR!.. More importantly though, it is a car that should be Enjoyed! Frankly, I really don't want to get rid of this car and I don't "NEED" to but I'm moving (locally) and I already have another '79 300 and would like one less car to worry about. If it doesn't sell I may not re-list it. Really for this price you couldn't find a nicer ORIGINAL car, WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET, NO SURPRISES. You could get in this car and drive back to California tomorrow! Thanks and Happy Bidding!
