Vehicle Detail

I am selling this bike for Mike, a close friend who is in the hospital and can't ride again. I will do my best to describe the bike and answer questions. Mike was with his friend Dan when the bike was purchased new, and actually drove the bike off the dealer lot in 1983. Dan then installed the factory fairing kit and put most of the 28,000 miles on the bike. After sitting for years, it was time to sell. Dan sold it Mike two years ago. Mike had the bike was serviced, and new tires and battery were installed. Mike as the second owner did not ride much. The last full day of riding was spring of this year. It has sat unused since spring while Mike was sick. I was asked to sell it for him. I installed a new battery and cleaned it up. The engine runs, but not on all four cylinders. Seems to be on 2-3 depending on the rpm's. I get spark from the plug wires, so I assume it's a carburation problem. It will idle and rev, but not good enough to ride. I have done as much as I can, so I have to sell it in un-rideable condition. I'm quite sure that with a carb overhaul it will run great again. Mike tells me that the transmission and engine worked fine the last time he rode it. The bike is in amazingly good condition. It is a survivor, not a restored bike, so there is some age and patina. Never molested and completely original as far as I can tell. It has a new battery, new tires. It has been dropped a few times, but with minimal damage. The right rear turn signal stalk if broken ( I have it taped ). There is scrape wear on the fairing molding. There is a small tear on the sissy bar backrest. It could be fixed by a vinyl repair guy. The clutch handle is stiff, but usable. (bad cable?) There is signs of oil seepage, but there are no drips under the bike where I have been running it for the last week. The tank has a few small scratches, but is not bad. The side covers are in great shape. The windshield is in poor shape. Plastic is too old I guess. Overall the bike is in great shape and would be a great conversation piece to own and ride. I think this bike was made in only one year, 1983. It has a very unique transmission with 2 final drive ratios. People say it has 10 speeds, but not really. It's a 5 speed transmission that can be used in high or low, for performance or good MPG cruising. It's nice that it can be conformed to your riding style at the flick of a lever. It also has an adjustable air suspension for the rear. This will make a great winter project for someone. Good luck on your bidding. If you have questions, please email me and I will answer as well as I can. The bike is available to see and hear run, in Thousand Oaks, Ca. If you need it shipped, you have to do the setup. I will meet the trucker and help load the bike. On Oct-31-13 at 12:07:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I see that the rear turn signal extension that is broken, is for sale on Ebay for $22.00 for a pair. The bike still has the original owners manual and tool kit in the side pouch. I will throw in the service repair manual by Clymer. It comes with two original keys for the bike, and two original keys for the fairing. Thanks to every bidder, it is good to see it will sell to someone who will treasure it. That's all Mike asked for. On Nov-01-13 at 15:11:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I looked into the tank today, and there is no rust. Several bidders had asked for this.I also remembered cleaning the fork tubes, I would assume it needs the fork seals replaced. Because I have not ridden it, I can't tell you how bad they are.
