1968 Volkswagen Type 3 Squareback with manual transmission stock 1600cc motor; runs, drives, and stops well. All electrical/lights work, except for: clock and radio. Odometer does not work (but speedometer works fine). Wipers work, but I have to occasionally tighten the wiper arms on the shafts, otherwise they work loose. Floor pans are solid, has rust bubbles in bottom corners of front fenders near the doors (see photos). Interior and paint need to be redone. It has a minor leak that seems to be coming from the transmission area. Has a roof rack and aftermarket Superior "Turtleback" wheels. The bumpers are from a later ('70-'73) squareback, and are in good condition. The hood is primered because it had a hideous decal on it when I purchased the car, which ruined the paint underneath. It does have a spare wheel/tire, which was removed for the photos inside the front. I have owned the car since 2004, and it was a daily driver until our family outgrew it a couple of years ago; it has just been a weekend driver since then. The car was converted from fuel injection to carburetors at some point before I acquired it. Here is a list of some of the work that has been done on the car since I've owned it: July 2013- Replaced carburetors (Weber 34ICT)/tuneup etc.November 2012- Replaced distributor (Bosch 009).July 2011- Replaced rear brake drums.May 2011- New tires, less than 5,000 miles since then.February 2011- Replaced fuel pump (electric).November 2010- Replaced steering damper.July 2010- Overhauled front brakes.June 2010- Replaced entire front beam assembly with a front end with good bushings/needle bearings etc., from donor car. I have all maintenance records and receipts going back to 2002. The car has a clear Colorado title in my name (the state where I purchased the car). There is NO RESERVE on this auction.
