Vehicle Detail
THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!! I custom ordered this truck from the factory, and have been the sole owner since I drove it off the dealer’s lot. This is a California truck, and with only a few quick jaunts into Nevada, has never left California. It is in great condition for a 12-year old 3/4-ton 4x4 truck, but I now have two kids, and the rear seating arrangement was not ideal for two toddlers in car seats (as their car seats put their feet too high, and right at the back of the front seats). So I upgraded to a truck with a full-size crew cab to make longer trips more comfortable for all...If not for that (and the fact that my wife STRONGLY feels that I do not need two trucks), I would still be driving this truck and you wouldn't be reading this particular listing...but, my kids comfort (and my wife’s happiness) mean you have the opportunity to own a great truck at a great price...[There is a video above this paragraph with a walk around and drive (may have to enable Flash if it doesn't appear by itself), and 60+ more photos below, detailing the great condition of this vehicle (in addition to the 24 above left of this detail section). You might have to use the scroll bar on the inner window to get to see all of the ones below.) KBB.com prices this vehicle out at $9,382 in current condition/options/mileage. A new Ram 2500 optioned out like this truck will have an MSRP of around $44,750 (Not including all the extras (listed below) you get on this truck)!!!! This no reserve auction means you can get a great truck at a great price!! Details:2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie SLT 4x4 Quad Cab Long Bed 182,505 miles Silver exterior (actual color is "Light Driftwood Satin Glow", but as any self-respecting truck owner would say "It's silver!") Tan leather interior 5.9L v8 4 speed automatic transmission 4:10 axle ratio Tow package Rear stabilizer bar + aux leaf springs HD service group (heavy duty engine cooling/transmission cooler) 4 wheel anti-lock brakes Engine block heater Front power heated leather 40/20/40 double split-back bench seat with center seat back folding storage console Rear folding leather bench seat with under-seat storage Remote keyless entry Woodgrain instrument panel Power windows/door locks Power heated foldaway mirrors (I believe one of the heating elements quit working in the passenger mirror, but it hasn't been cold enough here lately so I can't verify) Tilt leather steering wheel Steering wheel mounted controls (cruise/radio) AM/FM/CD/Cassette with graphic equalizer Infinity speaker system Cruise control Overhead storage (two smaller compartments for sunglasses and garage door opener) Lighted visors Fog lamps Rear sliding windowOverhead trip computerGoodyear Wrangler LT305/70R16 tires with about 3/8" tread remainingExtras (over $4,000 purchase price in extras): Under rail bedliner Full length bed carpet kit with sportsman's access/cup holders/integrated, top loading storage compartments SnugTop color-matched topper with front/side sliding windows, integrated top brake light, interior dome light, Yakima rack rails (racks not included, but rails are), carpet top lining, reinforced roof to support 500lbs, and "hole-less" mounting system Front winch mount/grill guard (winch not included, but previously held a Warn M12 12,000lb winch) Oversize backup/rear illumination lights (selectable to go on with reverse lights, or manually via a switch for rear illumination while parked) Teconsha Prodigy P3 trailer brake controllerWinning bidder will also get a free set of Westin tube steel running boards that I had removed as they were getting a little worse for wear...A quick sanding/paint job will get them back in good shape. Additional info:The Good:This is a great truck with a lot of capacity...aside from the car seat/leg room issue mentioned above, this truck will legally hold six people...it is slightly cramped with 6 adults, but it can be done...Two adults and two older kids (not in car seats) are probably ideal for longer trips...and then you get a full 8' bed to haul all your supplies - protected from the elements by the SnugTop, color-matched truck cap. There is a full length carpet kit in the bed for organized storage of your gear, and a nice makeshift sleeping spot...Pull out the carpet kit (1-2 minute task), and there is an under rail bedliner to haul the rough stuff around... The factory tow package, Heavy Duty service group, auxiliary leaf springs, and included Teconsha P3 brake controller make hauling your toys/trailer a snap (I will also throw in a set of clip on mirror extensions for towing a larger travel trailer)...The leather interior and all the options make it feel like you're driving a top of the line SUV instead of a pickup truck. I had a mfg rebuilt long block installed by the dealership at 128k miles, as I had a compression issue with one of the cylinders that was going to cost $2k to repair...they wouldn't know what the condition of the other cylinders was until they went forward w/ the $2k repair (and could cost more once they opened it up, etc. etc.), so I opted to replace the engine since I was going to drive this truck for a long time. The upside is you get a truck with a factory rebuilt, dealer installed engine that has ~55k miles on it. Prior to installing the new engine, I had the transmission inspected and serviced at the dealer and got a clean bill of health...Being a 12-year old truck, there are some items that have recently been replaced, so you get a bunch of new/nearly new components...About 1k miles ago, during the vehicles last servicing, I had a new water pump, serpentine belt, auto-tensioner, lower radiator hose, thermostat, and new front disk brake rotors and pads installed, coolant system flush, and transmission fluid, engine oil and filter changed. About 200 miles ago, I had a new air conditioning compressor and accumulator installed along with the corresponding a/c system charge. Clean title (pink slip in hand), current registration (Feb), and smog (August 21). About 75% of the miles are freeway miles. The Not as Good:Though most of the truck is in great condition, there are a couple small cracks starting on the driver seat bottom cushion...There is also a small tear (1-2") on one of the sliding window screens in the truck cap that can likely be sewed back together, but I have not tried. The bedliner has served its' intended purpose and shows some wear, but that’s what a bedliner is for, and the carpet kit hides all that until you’re ready to haul some stuff to the dump...There is a slight blemish on the front chrome grill where it appears to be de-laminating. There are a few cracks on the dash, as is common on trucks of this age, and a new dash cover has been ordered, but not yet installed. There are also a few body scratches/dings visible in the pics, which include some slight scratching on the fuel filler door (this might buff out, but I haven't tried); left rear wheel well where a piece of wood kicked up; right rear corner behind the wheel well where a snowmobile trailer slid on some ice and performed a slow-motion jack-knife; and the right front of the bed/back of the cab where some clown neglected to point out an out of view snowmobile trailer while I was pulling their stuck vehicle out of a snow bank in a very crowded/close-quartered/limited-visibility-scenario "parking" area where they got stuck. In and of themselves, all of these are minor, and don’t take away from the overall look or condition of the truck. Please:Ask any/all questions you may have prior to bidding. Please do not bid if you do not possess the means to successfully acquire this vehicle per the requirements spelled out in the auction details, including asking your wife's permission should you need to…Apparently I’m not the only one married to a person with an “opinion” as I found out when I sold a ’64 LeMans on here a few years back :o) Disclaimer(s):This truck is a used vehicle without warranty, being sold in "As Is" condition. The condition of the vehicle is accurately described above (and in pictures). Being a 12-year old vehicle, there may be conditions to which the seller is unaware, and therefore not able to disclose. The Buyer should be aware they are bidding on a 12-year old vehicle that may require more ongoing maintenance than would a brand new vehicle.
