Vehicle Detail

I am selling this bike because I am no longer able to ride it. This is a no reserve auction. This bike will be sold to the highest bidder. I have owned many BMW's and this by far is the nicest. It is the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden bar none. This bike is no garage queen. It has been ridden regularly and has scrapes and nicks to show it. Nothing major but it shows the typical wear for a bike this old. Faults that I know of are, 1.The odometer is broken (not unusual with BMW mechanical speedometer), therefore the mileage is unknown. I estimate the mileage to be about 50,000. The left mirror is cracked, there is some rust pitting on the exhaust.the crash bars and the rocker covers are scraped a bit. Nothing really serious though. Nothing is bent and the bike tracks real good. Has Corbin Seat and backrest. (Still have old seat which goes with bike) I installed an "Enduralast" alternator. Has permanent magnets. No more charging problems. This unit is rated at 450 watts and reaches 280 watts @ 2000RPM. Lots of juice for heated grips (bike has heated grips), vests or whatever. Just installed a new speedometer cable so spedo works OK (still no odometer). There are no leaks that show any drips on the floor but there is minor weeping at fill plugs, push rod tubes etc. This bike is "Tall in the saddle" which is my biggest problem. If you are short this may not be the bike for you. When the nine gallon (yes nine gallon) tank is full it can be a tad top heavy. Again,if I am alone and drop it it can be a real chore to pick it up. This gas tank will give you about 300 miles before going on reserve. (about 40-45 mpg). I also just replaced the starter. About three years ago I rebuilt the carburetors and at that time I re-jetted with a kit from Bing. At that time I also removed the EGR assembly which I still have and goes with the bike. This modification really improved performance however if you live where they emission test bikes this old you might have a problem. I will try and find the re:jet kit but if not the parts can be obtained from Bing. The bike is also going to need a new clutch plate in the near(or perhaps not so near) future. When I did the carb rebuild it increased the power enough that roll-ons in top gear with a headwind would start the clutch slipping. I have lived with this since the carb rebuild and would not hesitate to ride it anywhere but I am somewhat of a conservative rider. Again, the bike is not new. The tool kit is complete and includes some extra tools of my own devising. I do not have the owners manual. I will be happy to pick you up at the airport or bus station or I could possibly deliver the bike within 100 miles or so for $.50 a mile. Fly in ride home. Please ask any questions before bidding. Again, this is a no reserve auction and will go to the highest bidder
