Its been kept in the garage since purchase.I work from home so it hasn't seen many miles. 73,000.I've always run Mobile One Delvac oil.I recently had the timing belt changed, not because of miles but time.Tires are in good condition, had one replaced due to damage so one is brand new. They're Michelin Pilot Exalto, high speed rated.The car has been chipped, custom by rocket chip.One owner. We bought it brand new in July 2002. It was one of the last 2002s the dealer received before the 2003s came in.Of course awesome gas mileage. We did a trip from NC to Niagara falls, 55mpg each way. Mostly 50mph trip. Normally get 45 mpg in city/hwy mix.Condition inside and out is generally very good. No stains, or damage to upholstery.There is a 6" wide shallow dent on the hood where a hunk of asphalt hit. Otherwise no dings.Its never been in an accident.Mechanical condition is very good with no known issues. The car has been extremely reliable. Only problem was a bad glow plug when new, replaced under warranty. No other problems.Inside is clean and very good condition. There's a rubbery coating on some plastic that has started pealing due to age. I've cleaned it but not sure if there's more that can be done to it.We didn't really intend to sell it, but we got a deal we couldn't refuse on an electric, zero emission car. We got the new car a few months ago and its taken me this long to convince myself to part with the Golf. Its been an awesome car. Used a flashlight at roughly 45 degree angle.On Oct-03-13 at 15:29:44 PDT, seller added the following information: I posted a while ago a photo of a small scrape low on the passenger side just in front of the rear wheel that I had forgotten about. I've received a number of questions about the condition of the vehicle. Here are the questions and additional information:The car has never been smoked in.The paint has no sign of bubbling or fading. I had the oil changed this week with fresh Delvac One at the TDIClub recommended area mechanic. Two of the mechanics were so impressed with the car they expressed interest in buying and said they hadn't seen one in such good shape and said it was a sweet ride. One mechanic described a bubbling and fading of the clear coat seen in Tornado reds and stated he had never seen one in such good shape.The check engine light is never on when the car is running.Battery age: I've replaced the battery twice with Walmart batteries. The first one failed quickly and I replaced it under the batteries warranty. This second battery is holding up very well. The original battery lasted longer than any battery I've seen, something around 7 years. The failing battery probably lasted between 1-2 years, so I'll guess that this battery is 2-3 years old.CV-Boot. I also asked the mechanic this week about the condition of the CV-boots and he said they look fine.Timing belt. I found the receipt. It was replaced at 71k miles, or 3k miles ago. They also preventably replaced the tensioner, roller and water pump. They replaced changed the coolant. This was done at Maxwell VW in Burlington.
