Vehicle Detail

Up for auction today is a 1981 VW Rabbit Caddy Diesel pickup. This is My personal truck that I built from the ground up. I got this truck in California in 2008 from the original owner. The truck had 55k original miles on it. The truck sat for 15 years untouched wile spiders and insects made it there home. It was in a shed but after 15 years the paint was not so hot, and the interior was a mess. The motor would not start, and all the fuel lines where eaten up by diesel. I decided to pull the truck down to its shell and rebuild it the way I wanted. After getting it pulled down I took it to a body shop to have the round headlight core put in. The trucks body was perfect so it only light body work, sanding, primer and paint. There is no cancer on this truck at all. The rust it has is only surface and is very little from where the paint may have chipped. The paint is about 4 years old. I have put 30k miles on it so the paint is not perfect. It has chips and dings here and there, mostly from driving in the winter. I took pictures of the paint chips, and how it has chipped, and flaked. Going through the rest of the truck, I spared no expense. This truck has $8000 just into the body work, paint, bushings, new rubber for the doors and windows. This is a very nice truck that has been well taken care of. I will be listing all the good things about this truck and the few bad things it has. 1. Rebuilt engine from the ground up, with new timing belt, tensioner pulley, and rebuilt injection pump, 3k ago. 2. New CV shafts, 10k ago. 3. New wheel bearings, 10k ago 4. New urethane bushings, 30k ago. 5. Fresh rebuilt transmission, 30k ago. 6. New clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate, 30k ago. 7. New 10.1" cross drilled vented rotors, and ceramic brake pads, 10k ago. 8. New rear brake shoes, drums, and wheel cylinders, 10k ago. 9. New front, and rear shocks, struts, and upper mounts, 30k ago. 10. New master cylinder, 10k ago. 11. Rebuilt power steering rack with urethane bushings, 30k ago. 12. New Neuspeed 20mm. anti sway bar with urethane bushings, 30k ago. 13. New 1.5" Neuspeed front lowering springs, 30k ago. 14. New ball joints, and tie rod ends, 10k ago. 15. New 2.5" exhaust, 30k ago. 16. New battery, 3k ago. 17. New shift linkage 30k ago. 18. New radiator, 30k ago. 19. New windshield with gasket, 30k ago. 20. New rear gasket, 30k ago. 21. All new door seals, and gaskets for left and right doors, 39k ago. 22. Dynamat throughout the cab of the truck, 30k ago. 23. New carpet, 30k ago. 24. Dash is out of a VW Cabriolet with 50k, 30k ago, so it has about 80k on it. 25. Custom aluminum door panels made, 30k ago. 26. New left, and right window regulators, 30k ago. 27. New seats with stock sliders, 3k, ago. 28. New safety belts, 30k ago. 29. New paint, 30k ago. 30. New bead liner, 10k ago. 31. New euro front bumper, 30k ago. 32. Euro single wiper. 33. New Kenwood stereo with ipod aux, Kenwood door speakers, 200 watt amp, and 10" sub, 3k ago. 34. Tires are 80% good. 35. 4 wheel alignment, 6k ago. 36. Battery relocated to under the truck to give more room under the hood. Now for the bad. 1. Paint is chipped here and there. I tried to take pictures, but it will only let Me post 25, so I did my best. 2. Has a 2" ding/scratch on the left upper front fender. 3. Paint is chipping her and there under the hood. 4. Rear tail lights are older, and one is cracked, not broke. 5. Rear bumper is off a older truck and is missing the right side end cap. 6. Dash has tow little dings on it. 7. Rear slider window is out of a older truck, so it is not beautiful. 8. Surface rust along the inside where the core mount was put in. Nothing eaten through. Only rust on the truck. 9. Tailgate is a little hard to open. Very normal for these trucks. 10. Wheels are not perfect looking, but run out beautiful. 11. No A/C. This is all the thing I can think of for the good and the bad, and I do a very honest accounting of any car or truck I sell so you know what you are getting. This is a very nice truck that runs and drives as good as a new one, if not better do to the better parts put into it. The new motor was put in 3k ago because the one that was in it before was not new, and came out of a car with 80k+ miles on it. I have put a ton of time and money into this truck, and hate to sell it, but it is time to move onto My next project. It is sure to bring some one many more years of service. Please look over the pictures, I did my best to get as many as I can of the good and the bad. Truck is being sold as is. I have the oregon title in My name and in hand. If you are local to the Salem Portland OR area you can call me at 619-253-0955 to come see or test drive the truck. If you are a bidder out of state and win I can take the truck to a shipper with in 30 miles of 97071. If you wish to fly in to pick up the truck and drive it home I can pick you up at PDX, and get you to the truck. This truck should have no problems making it to any place in the US, or Canada. I look it on a 1500 mile round trip to Idaho and back two weeks ago. Please let Me know if you need the truck sooner and we can make a deal. My number again is 619-253-0955 and I am Joshua. Video link bellow. Thank you and happy bidding. P.S. Ebay will not let Me put the link for the video, so you will have to go to youtube and put in "1981 VW Caddy by jmkaudio". It should be the first one. On Jul-26-13 at 11:10:12 PDT, seller added the following information: This truck has the 12mm 1.6 engine out of a 81 caddy. The truck will run down the hwy nice at 65-70 mph. and get 45-49 mpg. all day long. The time and money put into this truck is well over $12,000 total. I have been building these truck for many years now, and this is a very nice little tuck and it would be very hard to find one this nice again. Thank you again.
