Vehicle Detail
This wonderful vans name is turtle dragon . I know that sounds odd but to me it means it moves great distances ( slow and steady ) and with a sense of adventure. This van had immediate concerns from its last listing for being a bit vague . This is because I thought pictures alone would speak for themselves . I guess not ! First off people had serious concerns about an accident in 2002 . This was a scuff on the bumper before its restoration in 2006 . There is absolutely no flaws in the paint . I would wager to say its the best paint on any vw on eBay currently . No bs . Immaculate . I purchased this van from the second owners . The original owner after its restoration was an older gentleman who completed bucket list adventures in Arizona and up state new York from what I understand . I purchased it from the second owners wife after he passed suddenly from a stroke . It was his pride and joy . This van is absolutely complete . I contacted the man who restored it and with him being completely out of my purchasing I felt I got straight answers that were cohesive with the previous owner . He mentioned this van was stripped and galvanized . Which is a process involving a zinc coating to resist rust and an immaculate paint Job that he said was nearly $300 a gallon paint and top coat . He mentioned this was his final restoration and stripped another van to finish it off. Didn't spare expense . The body has 200,000 and 28,000 on rebuild . I'm not some mechanic car guy who can tell you a bunch of technicalities . Just experience on the road and an experienced mechanics approval . I do understand how to baby a vehicle and have kept her clean and stored dry . Synthetic oil and premium gas . Extras with the van are a dry cover for garage , sun reflector window visors that fit in every window . Extra large table for inside .( that's two tables . ) pillow top for top bunk . There's also a small port o potti that has a cover that matches the van . Discreet . Never used . Every bulb from license plate lights to headlights are functioning . No damage . Looks practically new inside . A very well treated garage kept van. When I purchased I took it to the vw specialist MF AUTO in Knoxville. The shop foreman looked at it for six hours and could only recommend a new spare tire. His words " I would drive her across country " and that's just what me and turtle dragon did to get acquainted . From Knoxville to central Arizona's hopi mesas and back . I did this in winter and it performed expertly . Even surviving a snow storm In nearly 10 degree weather.now that was an adventure . I have receipts for its new transmission when it was restored . All Bosch hi temp hoses . New cooling system with care to use the hot pink euro coolant that is quite pricey . I flushed fluids and did oil change upon my return. Tires are great . Belts all new . Another interesting thing about this van is that it was a special order from Germany. Mind the " specially built for plaque on dash " It has euro bumper and plates . Retro fitted headlights and custom front end. Really a head turner . None just like this . I have all original Manuals and every key . Ac and heat work . Another common question " why am I selling " Well I would like to die In the van but I have hopes of starting my first business . This being one of my possessions that not necessary in my life currently though I wish I could rationalize different .Negatives - could use two New speakers in the back and a higher quality stereo . Ac could stand to be charged though the back unit will blow your hair from front seat . The tint has slightly turned purple from use of amonia cleaner, but in no way does it pull from its beauty . Also it could use a new gasket on the windshield wiper cleaner reservoir . This commonly shrinks with age , can't blame the van though its going on 30 years old. I have taken many pictures in the brightest light possible to show the paint and body. There are no dings , no scrapes . Perfect paint and body. This is no exaggeration , you will see in person if you are serious and I welcome a magnifying glass ! Hopefully this listing will get the attention it deserves with a stronger write up . This is a Tennessee van . No salty winter roads and lightly used van. This has never been a daily driver. Just trips for all previous owners. Galavanized body! (no rust)Retro Fitted Headlights!Euro build! Registered in US but its a Hanover Germany build. If you look at the pics of the drivers dash there's a little plaque for who custom ordered it .100% Complete! Tri city imports did the full restoration . This was his crown and jewel and very last restoration before he closed up shop .Immaculate paint and body!
