Vehicle Detail
Here is my gorgeous, quite rare, 1932 Pontiac Model 402 two-door sedan. The car was restored in the mid-1980s but looks like it was just completed. The car has been garaged and well cared for over the years. I am the third owner since 1980. I don't have any information before then. I do have lots of photos from the original restoration. The car is currently registered in WV. I have 1932 Michigan and West Virginia plates for the car. Heads turn when you drive this classic down the street. I’ve taken it to many shows and people flock to see. Last year, it won best in class at an AACA Shenandoah Region show in VA. You can also see the car pictured in Hemming's Motor News Feb, 2013 on page 67. Equipment: The car has a Fisher Body, 43 HP Oakland split-head 6 cylinder engine, 3 speed manual transmission, mechanical steering and brakes, 6-volt electrical system with electric starter, windshield wipers, electric headlights and spare tire. All gauges, lights, windows, starter, wiper (vacuum), horn and odometer work normally. The car shows just under 21,000 miles which I believe is accurate, but after 81 years, I'm not sure it matters. Performance; The car starts easily, runs smoothly and drives well. All four windows roll down and there is a pull-down privacy curtain on the rear window. The front windshield rises up approximately 3 inches to provide additional air flow. It actually helps keep the driver cooler while driving. Special Features: The 1932 had two unique Pontiac features. The first was ride adjust. Using a push-pull knob on the dash, the driver could tighten or loosen the suspension and change the ride comfort. The second was billed as a gas saver called freewheeling. Again, by pulling or pushing another knob, the driver could disengage the transmission from the drive train reducing drag when coasting downhill. The problem was people got to rolling faster than the brakes could slow the car and they smashed into trees at the bottom of the hill. I don’t recommend using the freewheeling option. Documents: I have several 3-ring binders with all service and shop manuals, historical documents, magazine articles and lots of spare parts for the car. I have a complete hood assembly with vents, a set of 4 extra spoke wheels and tires, two headlights and lots of small knobs, handles and impossible to find parts that all go with the car. Shipping: Car is offered for pickup in Martinsburg, WV. Shipping will be buyer’s responsibility. Warranty: There is no expressed or implied warranty. The car is sold as it.
