Vehicle Detail
LOWERED RESERVE Up for bid today we have an absolutely gorgeous 1951 Packard 200 Deluxe. Showing only 71,000 miles on the clock, this 3 owner beauty is ready to hit the road and join a new owner for many years of enjoyment. Modestly equipped with several options, including AM radio, turn signals, exhaust deflector, heater, and Packard's "Ultramatic Drive" automatic transmission. This Packard belongs to an old family friend who has been her caretaker for the past 20+ years. He feels now is the time for someone else to enjoy her. So without further ado, here are the particulars: Mechanical Packard's silky smooth straight 8, displacing 288 c.i., powers her effortlessly. No smoke, noises, pings, rattles, or otherwise to mar the driving experience. The Ultramatic shifts as designed... no slippage or other issues. Rides like a car of this caliber and marque should. Engine was overhauled by the second owner in the late eighties, and has required nothing but routine maintenance ever since. Exhaust is quiet and solid with no holes or rot. Brakes work well and have plenty of life in them. She has some minor seepage as one might expect, but engine, top AND bottom are clean. Easily passes New York state inspection... wipers, lights, etc all work. I wouldn't hesitate to drive her anywhere! (Just bring a tool kit... she is 62!) On a side note, the original under the gas pedal starter button has been relocated to the bottom edge of the dash. Body Finished in Corona Cream, she received a respray also by the second owner. Featured in numerous print articles and an honorary guest at several weddings, she remains smooth and shiny over 20 years later! Body is straight and solid... looks great from any angle! No rust or rot. Even underneath is clean and solid. A little polish would take care of a few minor blemishes present on the trunklid, and there is a chip or 2 near the passenger fender skirt, but overall, well above average quality. Still turns heads wherever she goes, and has a commanding presence not often seen in a four-door sedan. Chrome is in excellent condition. Bumpers and grille are shiny and reflective, with no pitting or fading. If I had to nitpick, the door handles and wiper escutcheons have pitting, and one hubcap is peeling. Trust me, these items do NOT detract from the presentation. Pictures are available of any area you wish to see in greater detail. Interior Wow! Simply gorgeous! Nary a mark to be found anywhere. You'll notice this paragraph is short, but the pictures speak volumes. Maybe the AACA could find fault with the interior, but I'm not sure I can. 2-tone grey cloth was redone, and looks as good as the day it was installed. Seats are comfortable and springy-no worn out stuffing here! Dash is original, but paint is still in fantastic shape. Gauges, including the radio and heater, all work. All in all, a great Packard that you can hop in and enjoy now. She truly needs nothing. That's not to say she's perfect by any means, but I'd say certainly above driver quality. I've done my best to tell all. As I mentioned above, this vehicle belongs to a family friend. If you have any questions, or wish to see additional photos, please do not hesitate to ask. There may be some delay in answers as I may need to consult with the owner, so bear with me. I am available though e-mail, or via cell phone: 914-489-8284. Additionally, I can make her available for a personal inspection if desired. The owner does have a transferrable New York state registration in his name. New York does not issue titles for vehicles '72 and older. This vehicle is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with absolutely NO WARRANTIES expressed or implied. Shipping is at the buyer's expense, though we will help meet your choice of shipper. Do not bid if you cannot finalize the transaction. Bidders with less than 10 feedback MUST contact me before bidding, or your bid will be subject to cancellation. Winning bidder will provide a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit within 24 hours of auctions' end. Balance will be due within 7 days, unless other arrangements are made. Deposit may be paypal or cash. Balance in CASH only! Please don't waste you time or mine... I've had enough games on ebay to last a lifetime. Lastly, we plan on advertising locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early due to a local sale. I feel the reserve that's been set is a reasonable one, but at request of the owner will absolutely not share it. Good luck to those who bid on this classy Packard, and again, any questions... just ask! AdamOn Jul-13-13 at 07:25:36 PDT, seller added the following information: After speaking with the owner, he has decided that he'd rather have cash and garage space than the Packard. To that end, we've DRASTICALLY lowered the reserve. Those of you watching, we're not that far away!! Good luck! Adam
