This beautiful looking 1958 Impala Sport Coupe has just become available from an estate. 1958 was the introduction year for the Impala and the big block 348 engine option, and the only year for this body style. The combination of the recent Rio Red exterior paint along with the restored colorful three-tone fabric interior looks stunning. This Impala features Chevrolet's largest engine in 1958, and first ever big-block, the 348-cu.in. V-8; it has a 4.125 x 3.25-inch bore and stroke. This optional Super Turbo-Thrust 348 includes a 4-bbl. Carter AFB carburetor to give 250hp at 4,400 rpm and 355 lbs.-ft. of torque at 2,800 rpm. The engine is stamped T1203H. The engine is mated to the advanced continuously variable Turboglide automatic, a $231 option at the time. Other items include power steering, dual exhaust, pushbutton radio, electric clock, speaker in rear seat (first time for Chevrolet), deluxe heater, and rear antenna. This body on the Impala is solid and the bumpers have been re-chromed, but there additional chrome and stainless steel pieces that need refinishing for show quality. Also the hood and trunk lid emblems were not re-installed during re-paint, but are readily available in the aftermarket. The entire interior was updated, but the engine compartment restore had not been started.
