Vehicle Detail

This is a 1962 GT HAWK customized in the 70's by an award winning hot rodder named Bernie Bernardo from Connecticut All the mechanicals have been recently rebuilt or refurbished. The motor has an Edelbrock carb plus an MSD ignition system, runs and sounds great. The paint is Maroon/silver. I would rate as a 2/3 condition as it is mechanically in top running condition and the paint / interior look beautiful. The car has a complete neon surround lighting system around the entire car bottom as well as the grille and under the dash. The doors and trunk are opened by electric push button poppers. Interior is all original and in good condition. The picture shows that the car headlight assembly is from a VW 411. The rear taillights are the originals turned upside down and frenched in Engine compartment needs to be detailed. The front turn signals are LED's installed inside the two outside bumper bolts.. This is for all those who don't have a clue what they are buying and want to blame the seller, it's a 51 year old car. Please ask questions. I may close auction due to prior sale. This is a quote of the the prior owners description when I purchased the car, "GORGEOUS, ONE OF A KIND, STUDEBAKER GT HAWK CUSTOM The customization of this 65,000+ original mile 1962 GT Studebaker Hawk, originally built for Ruth Ulbrich, took place in the late ‘70s. I have included a newspaper article about the person who customized it. His name is Vincent “Beansie” Bernardo. At about 64,000 miles the previous owner had the engine rebuilt and had a new transmission installed. In August of 2007 he had the Dana posi rear end rebuilt with new axle bearings and seals. New front and rear brakes with new wheel cylinders and lines plus new master cylinder were installed. It also has new ball joints, battery and shocks. The wide whitewall tires are virtually new. The gas tank was removed, cleaned, sealed and reinstalled along with a new fuel pump and lines. It runs and drives great. When I acquired the car, I had the paint stripped, and new base coat/clear coat applied in the maroon color that was on the car. There are pictures of the car ( Deleted link) as it was when customized and the new paint job. After the new paint it was very nice, but not quite the effect that I wanted. After a lot of thought and contemplation, the metallic gray was added. I really feel this enhances the lines of the car, and it also reminds me of an early ‘70’s Rolls Royce. There is a fine black line that demarcates the two colors. I replaced the headliner and wind lace, and added Studebaker floor mats. The carpet is in good condition, and the interior is in great shape. New door poppers were installed. All of the gauges were reworked for reliability and accuracy. The engine was “tuned up”, and it starts right up, and does not smoke. The engine compartment does need to be detailed. The wide white walls are virtually new. New. It is a gorgeous car that draws a lot of attention, as it is one of a kind." I have a clear NJ title in my name True mileage unknown because of age
