Vehicle Detail

2001 Honda RC51 (RVT1000R)12793 miles. Clear blue Texas title. Passes inspection, runs first-time-every-time. Somewhat beat-up bodywork. Some previous owner spent serious money on this bike; it features an Ohlins rear shock, a Kyle Racing rear link, some fancy-looking fiberglass bodywork, Harris rearsets, Harris clip-ons, and Moriwaki Zero Titanium exhaust silencers. I added a Zippy LiFePO4 battery that could start a grumpy Chevy V8. It weighs 410 lbs with an empty tank. The factory dry weight was 440. I have ridden it 2000 miles in the last four months, after reassembling it from a trailer-load of parts. It starts, runs, and rides perfectly. It is a neutral and clean-handling bike with ferocious brakes. The engine is brilliant - minimal vibration, easy shifting, and an endless, steady powerband from 2500 RPM to the rev limiter. Acceleration doesn't seem to taper off at all even at "Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200." speeds. The weight reduction gives it similar acceleration to a four-cylinder literbike. It gets 30 miles per gallon, so the engine and electronics are healthy. This particular RC51 can hit 100 in around 5 seconds from a standing start. 100 is well above any speed limit in Texas, which explains why I am selling it. As I get more confident in this rapid and confidence-inspiring machine, I am gradually becoming more and more likely to end up in court, trying to explain to a judge that ninety-nine miles per hour was actually on the slow side for that stretch of road. eBay wants me to describe "dents and dings". This is a thirteen-year-old sportbike. It has undoubtably been crashed repeatedly and heavily, though I haven't dropped it or highsided at a "buck and a quarter" yet. The chassis measured out dead-straight when I strung it up to align it. The bodywork fits pretty well but you could find flaws with every part of it. I accept cash and will ride it to any Greater Texas Federal Credit Union location to deliver it; they have branches in most major Texas cities. Contact me within three days of the end of the auction to arrange payment, paperwork, and delivery.
