Vehicle Detail
This Bronco is legally titled as a 1966 but it has a 1972-1974 body. Clear title and matching 1966 VIN tag. (In most states 1966 and older vehicles are exempt from emissions). The Bronco is an Arizona vehicle and is completely rust free except for some pin holes in the driver's floor board--approx 8" in diameter affected area. The following are all new: Ford Explorer EFI 347 Stroker motor with Edelbrock aluminum heads, rocker rollers, high torque cam--less than 100 miles. Built by Challenger Racing in Phoenix, Arizona and still under warranty. Ceramic coated shorty headers. 30 lb injectors. Cobra 65mm throttle body and Pro M mass air sensor. RJM wiring harness using 1993 Mustang computer. Transmission is a Hughes Racing C4 installed by Driven 4x4 in Phoenix, Arizona. Column mounted shifter. Transmission has less than 1,000 miles. Dana 20 transfer case completely rebuilt by Four Wheelers Supply, Phoenix, Arizona. Has less than 50 miles on it. Big bearing Ford 9" rear end, trussed, with Yukon nodular center section, 4:10 gears and Detroit locker by Four Wheeler Supply, Phoenix, Arizona. Has less than 100 miles on it. The front axle is the stock Dana 44, low pinion, with Detroit locker and 4:10 gears and disk brakes. (Included with the sale is a Dana 44 High pinion axle housing custom made to early Bronco specs by Driven 4x4 in Phoenix, Arizona). Exhaust system is new and is a single with no cats. The EFI does use an O2 sensor which is installed and working. Also new is a Kenwood CD and amp located in the center arm rest, Tuffy lock box. (Wired but not hooked up and never used). (Sale also includes a pair of marine wake tower speakers that will clamp to the roll cage. These were 1K new. The speaker wires are installed but the speakers are not hooked up). Four new Bilstein 5150 shocks. (In the pictures the shocks are Ranchos. Junk in my opinion. Please disregard the pics on this issue). Also new are five 35x12.50x15 BFG Muds. Less than 500 miles, if that. Four of the five wheels are real Alcoa 15x10s. Double cardigan Tom Woods drive shaft with less than 500 miles. The Wild Horses 3.5" lift has less than 1000 miles on it. Dual tanks with the rear being over-sized and aftermarket with built in EFI fuel pump. The side tank is plumed to pump into the main tank via an eternally mounted fuel pump, with filter. The steering has been converted to "Hy Steer" and the steering gear is new with reinforced plate. The brakes have been converted to hydraulic and are powered by a new, high performance power steering pump. The system is designed for all disk brakes. This Bronco only has disks in the front with drum rear. Proto Fab: Family cage with braces to the upper windshield frame; front and rear bumpers with dual swing-outs. Also included, but not pictured, is a cooler rack that mounts on top of the gas can carrier. The winch is a Superwinch X6 with roller fairlead. The front and rear folding seats are out of a 2010 Jeep Wrangler. They are black and have no rips or tears. They are a little dusty as the Bronco has no top. Aluminum radiator. New Optima Red top. New Wild Horses dual shifters. The stainless steel rocker guards have some denting. The previous owner was the culprit. I assume the underlying rocker panels are dented as well. I believe that the rocker guards could be heated with a torch and the dents removed. Included with the sale is an Advance Adapters AOD 4speed to Dana 20 adapter and transmission. The transmission has the correct output shaft but the bell housing is cracked (I bought it at a Bronco confab this way). Also included is a Lokar AOD shifter. Brand new. It appears that the Bronco's body was originally red. It is now blue. When it was painted blue (many years ago, or so I assume) it was a so/so paint job at best. The doors are hollow--no glass; however, the sale comes with a pair of 1966 doors in good condition with complete glass and removable frames. These will not work with the 1970s tub but will serve as parts. The previous owner used a bed liner product called "Herculiner" on the inside of the Bronco. Personally, I hate that shite. In the pictures it shows the front floor boards coated. I have since taken a wire wheel to the front floor boards and I have removed most of the Herculiner. The bed behind the seats, and under them, are still coated. The transmission tunnel was cut by Driven 4x4 when they installed the Hughes C4. It is not necessary to cut the transmission tunnel to convert to the C4 but it makes it easier to fasten the upper bell housing bolts. I am not happy with the cutting. Driven did, however, install a cover plate which grafts over the transmission tunnel. Unless you are a Bronco fanatic you cant tell its a top cover. The dual shifters are installed but the boot is just resting on top. The frame is rock solid--no rust. Dual shock provisions in the rear. The body is rust free except for that 8" spot on the driver's floor boards. The body is in good shape: No rust and no major bondo. The body does show low spots here in there consistent with old dents and dings that the painter did not bother to address. Tail gate is solid. The windshileld frame has cracks (not rusted though). No wiper motors. The gauges work, except or the gas gauge which works when it wants to. I am selling because I have found a new toy that I want but this has to go first. I was slowly making this Bronco into a "New" Bronco. The paint and body was the last step. I have seen 40K Broncos with none of the modern running gear I have. This Bronco runs, drives and 4x4s. It was recently Dyno tuned by Arizona Dyno. It is VERY fast. It idles high when in park and idles normally when driving. The fix, per my mechanic, is a Ford fine idle plate. This Ford designed remedy cures the common idle issues on EFI Mustangs. It is a 2 min install and sandwiches between the IAC valve and its mounting surface. The plate has two needle jets that tune the fine idle. This part was ordered Monday, June 18th. To install an EFI Stroker in an Early Bronco it will cost at least $8K as follows: $1k for refurbished EFI components and ancilaries, $300.00 for injectors, $400.00 for headers, $500.00 for EFI gas tank, $550.00 wiring harness, $250.00 harmonic balancer weighted to the C4's fly wheel, $250.00 for Cobra throttle body, $250 for Pro M Mass air set up, and then another 5K in aluminum heads, rocker rollers, 347 rotating assembly, machining and balancing, gaskets and assembly. Installation would, of course, be more. A half-way decent, completely stock Bronco will run $4K. Add that to the cost of a Stroker EFI and you are at $12K. In short, no one could build my Bronco for the reserve price. I am a criminal defense attorney in Phoenix, Arizona and can be located in the Arizona Bar registry.
