Vehicle Detail

Hello and thank you for checking out my listing! Going to the highest bidder is this 1971 AMC Javelin SST. I have been collecting 71-74 Javelins for 24 years and this car is very special for two reasons. First, it is an early 71 build, factory Z code car with almost every option: 401 motor, 4 speed T-10 transmission, A/C, tinted windows, tilt steering, limited slip, rim blow steering wheel, and 140 mph rally pack. This brings us to reason #2 – I can make the above statements because the car comes with the factory build sheet! I purchased the car from a kind gentleman in TX, where it was delivered new in 1971. All the original sheet metal is on the car. The car is rust free and beautiful, other than a few tiny pinholes in the lower rear quarters.I started the restoration 4 years ago and to date here is what has been done: Suspension: All the front suspension and frame components have been powder coated. The rear leaf springs and bushings are new. All of the bushings on the car, including the motor and transmission mounts, are new. Brakes: All of the brake components are new. The master cylinder, booster, and calipers are new remanufactured components, and all of the brake lines, hoses, rotors, and front bearings are new. The rear drums are correct for 71 and have been blasted and powder coated. The brake/clutch pedal assembly was disassembled, blasted, powder coated, and all the bushings and wear components in the assembly were replaced during reassembly. All of the brake and fuel lines are new and installed in the car. Seals, Weather Stripping and Gaskets: Almost every seal, gasket, sticker, grommet, fastener, and weather stripping piece needed to finish the car is included. Interior: The front seats were stripped down to their metal frames, blasted, powder coated, and reupholstered with new, exact factory matching skins from Legendary Auto Interiors. The rear seats were reupholstered with Legendary skins too. The seat slides and return springs were blasted and powder coated. The seat belts were sent to Ssnake Oyl and restored. The carpet is new; however the original carpet along with the manufacturers paper tag comes with the car. Drivetrain: 401 block with correct 4 barrel steel intake, the heads are off a 72 and not the correct C code, but they have been ported and have hardened valve seats to run on non-leaded fuel. The transmission is a 4 speed T-10 with a Hurst shifter and the rear end is limited slip. The radiator has been boiled, re-cored, and repainted. The condenser was pressure tested and repainted; however, the factory markings on the dryer were masked off and still show like new. As far as I can tell, the transmission, the radiator, and condenser are original to the car. The Goods: A List of the Original 71 Parts for the Car: · Rebuilt, correct Motorcraft 4300 carburetor with factory date tag · Powder coated duel snorkel air filter housing · Thick sun visors in excellent condition · Forked tongue, extended center council in excellent condition · Cast metal Motorola voltage regulator – never used, original, and in new condition · Paper backed vinyl headliner. The paper is very brittle; however, there are some factory ink stamped numbers still visible. The interior side of the headliner is in excellent condition. · Seat belts – restored by Ssnake Oyl and original to the car · Factory carpet in very good shape. The car comes with a new set of carpet too. · Factory tinted windows – driver, passenger, and rear · Original set of extra wide Polyglas tires which utilize all of the unique space of the wheel wells, giving the car a great looking stance from all angles. When they were mounted on the powder coated 14” factory rally rims, it was the first time they had ever been mounted. · The correct interior rear view mirror assembly was restored, including the mirror being re-glazed. · The correct 71 gas tank – the gas tank straps have been blasted and powder coated. · Front and rear bumper extensions, re-chromed to show condition· A set of Z code, non air, ceramic coated exhaust manifolds · Here is the big one – a 1971 SST grill that is new in the box! Including the punch matrix order card from AMC! The grill has never been installed and is in new condition, showing only shelf wear to the silver paint around the front rim… a very cool and rare piece! · Clean California title · Lastly, the build sheet Super Bonus: If you have read this far, here is the “super bonus” for your efforts, good on you! My intention was to rebuild the 401 SST car back to factory specs with the possibility of it being a number 1 car, given the original parts, body condition, and the build sheet. As all AMC fans know, there is not a lot of reference material available to do that kind of build, no matter what AMC you are working on! I happened to be lucky enough to find a 71 SST car out of Virginia, original and 95% rust free. The 304 motor was missing, but what made me purchase the car was the fact the interior was unmolested. Moreover, from what I can tell, most of the interior panels and dash have never been taken apart or disassembled. I will qualify that statement by saying the carpet was removed, the front seats have been unbolted, the center console is removed, and I removed the seat belts after purchasing the car. The reason I bring up the interior is because, from what I can tell, all of the factory fasteners are still in place. So, they can be used as a reference guide in getting the 401 car's interior put back together correctly. Getting to the point, the winning bidder will get the Virginia car to go with the 401 Texas car. Remember, the Virginia car does not have a motor but it does come with a clean MN title. That is the deal! This is a special opportunity to own a couple of very special cars. The winning bidder is responsible for transportation and should bring a big truckJ Thank you so much for checking out the listing and please feel free to email any questions! I HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 125 PHOTOS OF THE CARS AND ZERO TECHNICAL ABILITY TO LINK THE ALBUM TO THIS LISTING...THREE HOURS OF FAQ READING GOTS ME WAVING THE WHITE FLAG!
