I HAVE NO TIME TO PLAY GAMES & ALL REASONABLE OFFERS WILL BE CONSIDERED. THIS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE NICEST {YET REASONABLY PRICED /AFFORDABLE} 1968 BIG BLOCK ROADSTERS. THERE IS A CAR COVER & A FACTORY BLACK HARD TOP THAT COMES WITH IT. THANKS 314-497-9470.....LOW RESERVE! MOTIVATED SELLER! As I look back through the years I myself realize that I have been very fortunate to own some pretty special muscle cars. That being said there have been very few times that I have found myself speechless as I try to relate just how special a car is to me on a personal level. I will try to tell the story of how I got acquainted with this factory 427/390 Horse BowTie & a bit of its history quick as possible. One spring morning a couple of years ago a good friend of mine called me raving about a classic Corvette that he wished he had the money to buy. It was a factory original 427/390 h.p. Roadster that had been sitting for approximately 18 years. Stored and covered in a heated garage it was the type of find that drives most muscle car enthusiast crazy! He was most excited about it because he knew Corvettes very well & this one was an accident free original big block vehicle! “If you know the classic big block Corvettes well you’ll probably be familiar with just how many have been wrecked. It seems to be difficult to find one that hasn’t been patched up at some point in its life. Most people found it somewhat difficult to keep all of that big block power ground to the pavement with such a light body”. At any rate after looking at it my friend suggested that I buy the car {because he was short on cash & the asking price was out of reach for him}. Since I had a thorough knowledge of Corvettes I decided to check into it for myself. After making the initial call I ventured out to see just what had my partner so giddy! UPON ARRIVAL: Before I even had a chance to look at the car I met a gentleman who had the look of someone who was about to sacrifice his first born son. It was evident that he was not enthusiastic about selling this car at all! However when he had taken the car cover off I was pleasantly surprised to find a vehicle that deserved the praise it had received. The body of this particular Corvette was {and still is} in great shape. All of the factory seams were still visible and the body lines came together nicely. The original {988 code Cordovan Maroon} paint was fighting for its life ….dull & faded but still fighting {it had certainly seen better days}. As I made my way around the circumference of the vehicle I found the fiberglass to be in outstanding condition! “ONCE AGAIN THIS IS AN ACCIDENT FREE VINTAGE VEHICLE”! There was little to no stress cracks to be found & certainly no note worthy damage to be reported. This car was a perfect restoration candidate! SECTION 1: At this point I would like to talk about the detailed body work & paint process {that was applied once I purchased it}. Before I decided to paint this vintage sports car I had to think about what would look best covering it. After much consideration I decided that A color change was in order! The shop where the work was to be completed & several friends agreed that Torch Red would suit this Bow Tie best! Although black came in as a strong 2nd choice the lot was cast for red. As you can see from the pictures the finished product is simply stunning!!! Even long before the paint gun began to spray the body of this car was stripped and blocked several times over! I have been known to be a pretty harsh critic when it comes to judging cars. My own cars aren’t exempt from my rating scale or critiquing either. Although I won’t call this convertible Vette a ten point show car I can say with certainty “the new potential owner should be more than happy with it”! You may find some minor imperfections but they will be miniscule in nature. All of the chrome was removed from the body of the car before the prep work was started. The lights & emblems were removed as well. Once the body was fully stripped, disassembled & massaged the paint process began. The cars contour and overall appearance is simply striking! The craftsman who finished the work himself was even amazed with just how nice the car turned out! It actually finished very well in the C3 Corvette class {46 cars judged} last fall at a local show. This car is ready for the local show & cruise inns! The paint is very shiny! It looks absolutely incredible at dawn or dusk! When the time came to install the bumpers I decided to replace the original ones with spank brand new NCRS approved pieces {looks awesome}! I didn’t stop there…..I decided to replace the bumperettes too! The new chrome appointments on this classic Corvette really compliment the red exterior wonderfully “looks like a match made in heaven”! Be prepared for random strangers to question you at each and every stop light! Here are just some of the parts that were purchased new {receipts included}: Rear license plate bezel, rear exhaust bezel, front emblem, chrome valve covers, 4spd shifter with linkage, shifter knob, trans mount, new performance clutch, fly wheel, thermostat, water outlet, V/C gasket, alternator, starter, motor mount, Carburetor, four disc brake calipers, ultra shocks, high volume oil pump, fuel pump, sand blasted factory Ralleys, complete convertible top frame, front & rear bumpers, bumper guards, Rally center caps, beauty rings, wiper motor washer pump cover, red line tires, outside mirror, tack stripe kit, convertible top, pads, rear latch, soft top bow rod, emergency brake kit, lock knob with kit, Toker II Performance intake, gas tank, gas tank kit, air dam, gas door emblem, seat covers, high performance distributor, plugs, 8 mm wires, battery, radiator, seals & too much more to list! All documented with receipts! SECTION 2: The interior of the car is in great condition!I want to say first that with this car being stored as long as it was the interior was kept in tact. Even with that being the case I decided to replace just about all of it. However there are a few pieces weren’t changed. The first interior pieces to go were the original seat covers. I installed brand new covers from Corvette America. This supplier is very well respected in the industry and highly spoken of when it comes to Corvette restorations. To ensure that comfort wasn’t being neglected I had the seat bun cushions replaced also. The carpet was replaced throughout. No short cuts were taken! I replaced the carpet in the front, rear & the compartment behind the seats. I also purchased a new sound deadener insulation kit and installed it also to help keep the cabin quiet {expensive & tedious….usually neglected by most}. One of the parts that weren’t changed are the door panels. They are original to the car. They weren’t replaced because I didn’t feel that they needed to be. They were treated & touched up by a local upholstery shop. The car is just as nice inside as it is out! The original dash is a true testament of time…. It needs to be seen to be appreciated! It is not faded or damaged in any way! The car also has a nice console & shifter. When you’re speaking about a Corvette roadsters upholstery “you have to talk soft tops”! This classic sports car has a spank brand new top that hasn’t been lowered more than twice since it was installed. The fit is simply incredible! The weather strip was replaced along with the tack strip & pads! To make a long story short the interior in this one is very accommodating “simplistic and subtle in nature” yet just exciting enough to make you want to climb inside! Section 3: As you know “when you are talking big block Corvettes the 427 is king”! This car came from the factory with a 427/ 390 H.P engine! That being said the original power plant is long gone. The gentleman that I purchased the car from said that the first owner never gained possession of the original block after it was taken out to be rebuilt. Almost immediately he formed a plan to make the car better than it was from the factory. He purchased a NOM 427 block for the car from a performance shop in the area. He wanted to build a block that made more H.P. & torque than the original! After consulting with several friends in the hobby & other performance shops he decided build the tall deck block that could put out massive amounts of torque! It is actually the motor that is in the cars engine bay now but it has under been completely transformed! The motor was set up to make passes! He actually wanted to model the engine after a similar 427 tall deck block that was well known at Gateway International Raceway in Madison IL. Although he wasn’t expecting to run 11 secs in the quarter mile “the car would be built to hold its own if a street brawl ensued”! Although the work to build it began it was far from over when I purchased it. The transformation was well underway but incomplete. After I restored the car top to bottom I took on the task of fulfilling his muscle car dream. I had the motor rebuilt {finished just a few months ago}. I spent a great deal of time & money to make sure that the job was done right. BEAUTY & THE BEAST! A very well respected performance shop in the Mid West began rebuilding the motor for me several months ago. The plan was to have them rebuild the motor & then have another Wise Speed shop time & tune it. I have over $5k invested in the rebuild alone {receipts included}! The block has more than exceptional power! The process to rebuild this block took quite a while. I was forced to out of state so after the block was rebuilt it never made it to Wise Speed Shop. I preferred to only take the car to Wise for them to conduct the Dyno test & have it tuned. The opportunity to make it there never materialized {schedule not permitting the shop is 80 miles away from home}. It has been next to impossible to get it there since I have limited time to do so. The new owner can have this classic tuned to his or her own specs. Let’s Listen! Although this Corvette runs Awesome! My Pain Your Gain: At this point I haven’t had a chance to do anything else with the car as I have been living out of state. I haven’t even had a chance to Dyno test it yet. http://i805.photobucket.com/albums/yy334/Jmoore2202/parts%20and%20%20breeze/Corvette%20big%20block/090.jpg Everything in & on this wonderful time capsule has been replaced. She’s up for grabs now as I don’t plan on storing the car for a full year. I won’t be able to enjoy her until late next year {maybe longer}. Although I am a motivated seller I will not give this wonderful Classic Corvette away. I know what’s out there for sale & the old adage remains true “You get what you pay for”! There has been a grand effort put forth to make this sports car a very respectable antique roadster! There has been an untold amount of man hours invested besides the money spent. I have an unmatched history of receipts for the work completed “including the engine rebuild”. I was offered a questionable dollar for the caliber car that this one is from a local dealer. I decided to pursue EBay before I made a deal with the devil. Please don’t insult my intelligence by low balling me “to much money & time invested”. If you are seriously interested in a GREAT SPORTS CAR AT A VERY FAIR PRICE …..THIS MAY BE THE ONE FOR YOU “JUST CALL”. This roadster is very rust free & detailed underneath! There have also been many suspension parts replaced. The air cleaner will have to be modified a bit as it fits snug under the hood. This vintage roadster has had detailed attention paid to each and every area on the chassis. The frame was stripped and painted & the bushings were replaced. This is a great opportunity for someone to own a sharp big block Corvette at a fraction of the cost that has been spent on it. There has been easily over $60k invested! Serious buyers are encouraged to call 314-497-9470. Most of my auctions end early. Don’t miss out on this one!!! THIS CAR IS FOR OFFICALLY FOR SALE! I NEVER FAIL TO HAVE SOMEONE CALL ME AFTER THE AUCTION DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY DIDN’T WIN THE CAR! I am able to conduct shipping in the US & overseas reasonably! If you have zero feedback or two or more negative feedback contact me prior to bidding {failure to do so will disqualify your bid}. GOD BLESS AMERICA & GOD LUCK AT OWNING A PIECE OF AMERICAN HISTORY!
