Vehicle Detail
Hi! ****FREE 5TH WHEEL HITCH INCLUDED**** This truck does not currently have a Salvage Title nor should it ever have in my opinion but whatever. Apparently I must list it as rebuilt. I bought this truck from my brother (a licensed Autobody Repair specialist). Who told me all that happened was the truck impacted a power pole in the road shoving the front axle back a few inches. This bent in the oil pan a bit causing it to only hold 10 Quarts instead of 12. Also naturally it bent the lower and upper control arms, still no big deal. It also jacked up the front fenders when the tires were pushed back with the axle. But everything was easily fixed and certainly does not warrant salvage title history. But I guess they salvage anything anymore. NEW CLUTCH/UPGRADED TRANS 6 SPD/ NEW TIRES/ AFTER MARKET TRACK BAR/ 4" EXHAUST/ TURBO BOOST 34PSI ****I'm Selling my 1997 Dodge Cummins 5.9 Turbo Diesel 4x4 Long Bed**** The Truck has 417,323 miles on it. It has the original injectors that have never been worked on so they are probably due for servicing. The head was replaced a few years back due to micro-fractures from running without a pyro-meter, So we installed another head and pyro-meter pre turbo. Also I have Auto Meter Pillar boost & pyro gauges (that are electric not mechanical meaning a much more instantaneous and accurate reading. The 5 speed transmission died at about 150K miles so I upgraded the truck to the much more heavy duty and reliable NV5600 6 speed transmission (There has developed a growling sound in the last 30K miles when in 6th gear but my mechanic tells me it must be a chipped gear tooth not a bearing because it hasn't worsened with mileage). The clutch was just replaced with a South bend clutch a few thousand miles ago and the tires have less then 3K miles on them from Big O here in town. The truck has a goose neck ball hitch as well as a FREE REESE 5TH WHEEL HITCH. I have owned this truck sense it had 87K miles on it back in 2001 so I know everything about it just ask if I haven't covered it already. I am really somewhat sad to sell the old '97 Cummins 12 Valve as it is an incredible engine extremely robust with many on the road with over a million miles on them. The new Common Rail system while advanced concerns me with its volatile injectors getting messed up and melting pistons but I bought an '06 Dodge Cummins and have my fingers crossed. If I was in the financial position I would keep the old dodge and restore it someday for nostalgia for the Cummins. The Drive Train is what you would expect from a 2500....It has a DANA80 (355 Gear Ratio), DANA60 Front Axle with the HD Transfer Case that has about 70K less miles then the wrest of the truck. The Killer Dowel Pin has been repaired as well as timing mods to improve performance and economy. The Vacuum pump was replaced at just under 200k miles because the original broke the main drive gear somehow. I have eliminated the stock air box and opted for a large capacity tractor style Air Filter for Improved Air flow. The Fuel plate is a modded TST equivalent rated at 400 Horse but with the old injectors I don't think its giving that much these days. The Oil Pan has leaked sense Day one having suffered an impact of some kind before I owned it causing it to only hold 10 Quarts Oil rather then the normal 12 quarts. I never fixed the leak so the under side of the truck has been kept somewhat lubricated over the years you might say. I have had Amsoil Synthetic in the Engine & Drive Train for almost its entire life with me (I ran Delvac 1 a few times which is also synthetic oil) . I also frequently run Lucas fuel additive to help maintained the BOSCH P7100 Fuel Injector pump. A very heavy duty pump unlike these rotary systems that failed in the previous gen and post gen trucks... I had a bypass filter installed for most of its miles however I have removed it and in the process I messed up the oil fill tube and had to JB weld it so if you want the bypass filter you will have to install the return line in a different location then I had. Um... this is probably more detailed then many of you care for it to be so if there are any remaining questions that you have that the pictures don't cover please let me know. One final thing. I also have overload Air Bags installed on the rear axle which is very handy for a smooth ride! This truck does not currently have a Salvage Title nor should it ever have in my opinion but whatever.
