Vehicle Detail
I have for auction my 1952 Triumph Thunderbird. I restored this bike for myself 3 years ago using original, or at least English made parts whenever possible. I have ridden the bike a total of 83 miles since. The bike runs, rides and shifts superbly. All electrics work as they should. The bike has a long history in the Louisville Ky. area. I have a bill of sale from 1960. I also have a receipt from April 1961, where the owner had $625 in work done. This work included installation of a later style crank with modern shell bearings. They also installed a slightly hotter cam and larger valves. The work was done by John Hutchinson Cycles. I have gone through every inch of this bike. New crank and rod bearings, oil pump, Sprockets, chains, fork legs, fork bushings, fork springs, correct wiring harness, rubber parts, rims (English made), stainless spokes (glass bead blasted to simulate cad. ), Avon tires, new steering head bearings, new wheel bearings, rebuilt BTH mag., rebuilt generator, NOS Lucas voltage regulator, rebuilt Smiths chronometric speedo, and much more. I had the single stage urethane paint, custom matched from original paint found on the rear hub and frame. The rims, fenders and number plate are hand striped. The frame and engine numbers are matching and correct for the year and model. 18XXX NA. on the frame and 6T 18XXX NA. on the engine. All hardware is either new cad plated whitworth or re-plated originals. Vokes air cleaner, original Lucas tail light (some scratches in the glass lens), Lucas headlight lens, NOS dauherty levers. The petcock is a later style repo. , as the originals always leak . The primary is flawless with no repairs. The headlight switch is original, but not perfect (chrome rim has light pitting), I could not find an original NOS. The ammeter is a Miller (could not find an original Lucas). This is a very nice bike. There is a worn spot in the paint, on the left front fork cover where it has rubbed the fender. This should be an easy touchup, I have more paint. I am selling as I have other bikes and not much storage space. I like to ride my bikes, and this one is too nice. You are welcome to come see the bike before bidding. I am 16 miles due north of Louisville Ky. feel free to ask questions, Ill do my best to answer. I have a clear Indiana title in my name. $250.00 deposit within 48 hours of the auctions end. Balance to be paid in cash at the time of pickup. On May-24-13 at 09:47:55 PDT, seller added the following information: Just wanted to clarify a couple of things. I cannot accept pay-pal as full payment. $250.00 pay-pal deposit. Balance to be paid in cash at the time of pickup. If you are overseas or too far away for local pickup we can follow these steps. $250 pay-pal deposit.I can write up a sales agreement and email the buyer a copy.We both sign and have notarized the sales agreement and mail it to each other.Upon receipt of the notarized sales agreement, I will accept a check from a U.S. Bank or a direct bank to bank transfer. After all funds have cleared, I will assist in the shipping of the bike.
