Vehicle Detail
1999 VW Beetle 1.9L TDI Diesel. 80k miles. I am the 3nd owner and have had it for about 3 years. Mileage is 80,757 original. Runs excellent. 5-Speed manual gets about 40 MPG. Always maintained with regular oil changes and fuel filters. Alpine CD player with bluetooth capability. The door speakers are also aftermarket and the stereo sounds great! Wheels were upgraded to 17's for better looks and performance. The wheels were bought at Discount Tire in San Diego, CA, also known as American's Tire elsewhere. The offset and size is matched to VW Beetles which came with a factory 225/45 R17 tire. The console is out of a newer 2005 Beetle which adds 2 extra cup holders. Ice cold A/C. Tinted windows. Excellent maintenance record:* New brake pads & rotors at all 4 corners* Timing belt was done at 66k miles.* Alternator was replaced at the same time of the timing belt.* New cabin air filter.* New right front wheel bearing* New engine cooling fan control module* Front tires are 70% tread. Rears 30%* New interior headliner (Done in black, original was tan). EXTRA PARTS:* NEW BLACK, COLOR MATCHED REAR SPOILER ($150). WE BOUGHT NEW AND NEVER INSTALLED.* NEW SET OF BLACK PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS ($250 VALUE). WE BOUGHT TO INSTALL AFTER PAINT JOB.Pictures are included of extra parts. The car has a couple minor problems listed below. 1) Check engine light is on. This appears to be due to a bad glow plug controller. We're in California and it starts fine, so we never fixed it. 2) Airbag light is on. This will cause the airbags not to work in an accident. I have read several forums online and there are common causes to this problem. I checked it out, and the 2 wires by the driver seat belt buckle were frayed. The wires were repaired. The light is still on because I don't have a scan tool to clear it. Here is a link to a forum where I found the fix. http://volkswagenforum.com/forum/volkswagen-beetle-20/airbag-light-4796/ and a $55 scan tool for sale on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Car-Code-Reader-Scanner-VW-AUDI-SCAN-TOOL-MAXSCAN-VAG405-OBD-II-CAN-BUS-/221218332338?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item3381a3deb2&vxp=mtr 3) Faded paint. All original. Never wrecked. My opinion is the roof and front clip need paint only. The rest is pretty good. 4) The rear bumper has a tiny tear at the seam under the left rear tail light. This is because the mother-in-law was backing out of the driveway and hit the bumper. 4) Sun visor mirror flaps are broken off. Call or text for any questions. (619) 261-8565 If the buyer ends up being in California, I will have the vehicle smogged and ready to transfer. Title in hand. We still love the car. It doesn't get driven much. The only reason it is for sale is because we are currently paying insurance on 5 vehicles. With a new teenage driver on the policy, it's just too much.
