Vehicle Detail
Suzuki RM 65 motocross bike. The Suzuki 65's were made by Kawasaki, and are mechanically identical to the Kawasaki KX 65, so all the parts interchange. The only difference is the yellow plastics. I have also found that Suzuki parts are a bit less expensive than the same Kawasaki-branded parts. My 11 year old son was planning to race in the 65cc class this year, so I acquired and readied four 65cc dirt bikes, planning to use them this year. Well, in December he tells me his legs are getting in the way of the handle bars when he turns, and the 65's are too small for him. He put on a growth spurt and they dont fit him now. So much for my plans. Fortunately, we had an 85 my older son rode, so I moved him up to that bike, but now I have four 65's to sell so I can get another 85. This one is a 2005 Suzuki RM 65, which I purchased last year, and it looked like it just came off the showroom floor. The first owner bought it for his daughter to get her interested in riding, but she never did, and the second owner did the same thing for his son, same result. The bike was basically not ridden and kept in their garage. They would start it occasionally and ride in their yard on the lawn. I planned to use this bike as my son's primary race bike this year. He rode it in one race last fall. I added a new V-Force reed assembly and a used FMF pipe with new muffler packing ($400). You can see in the pictures that the pipe is used, but it is sound. I have the stock pipe, which is like new, and is included. The bike runs perfectly. I replaced the front tire and tube even though it was like new, and was getting ready to replace the rear tire so it would have fresh rubber, but unless you are going to race it, no point in that, as the rear tire is also near new. I will include the new rear tire. The only problem I had was that the front wheel bearing had rust in it, so I replaced the bearings, seals, spacers, and axle shaft tube in the front, and also put new bearings and seals in the rear even though they were not rusted. Just wanted to start with a fresh set. New air filter. If you have questions, feel free to call, or email me at brucepitt@aol.com.
