Vehicle Detail
This car is being relisted because the high bidder could not complete the transaction. Up for bid is an all original, unmolested 1946 Plymouth Convertible Coupe. It was bought new on August 22, 1946 at Moreland Motor Company, Waldorf, Maryland for $1609.24.(I have the original bill of sale, 1946 title, service policy, and registration cards). It has not been driven since 1959. The Plymouth is all original including paint, upholstery, top, etc. and is 100% complete except for the jack. It still has the original "cat's eye" headlights. All of the small, impossible to find convertible parts are present. It has never been in an accident. The original, matching number engine has been completely rebuilt by master engine builder, Bill Coleman of the famed Coleman Brothers Speed Shop. It has new pistons, bearings, valves, guides, springs, rebuilt rods, turned crank (10-10) rebuilt balancer, new oil pump and the assembly has been balanced. It has a new clutch. The original distributor has been rebuilt and checked on a Sun machine. I have receipts totaling over $3,750.00 for the rebuild. I have numerous used and new parts that go with the car. The engine and transmission are out of the car. I have a spare, complete engine and transmission. There is a small amount of rust in the lower right front fender, 2 small spots under the trunk lid and rust in the spare tire well. The floors and frame are very nice. All of the chrome and stainless is present and in good to excellent condition. The glass is all good except the windshield. The top is torn. There is a mouse hole in the front seat. I have a clear, current, matching Maryland title in my name. This is a very nice Plymouth that deserves to be restored, or just reinstall the engine and transmission and show it as an original, correct car. I have listed the mileage as 115,266. There is an oil change sticker on the door jam showing 115,225. There is no warranty, implied or expressed. All transportation costs will be paid by buyer. I will assist in loading. The car and title will not be released until all funds clear my bank. A $500.00 deposit from the winning bidder will be due within 48 hours of the end of the auction. Balance will be due within 7 days. If you have any questions, or want more photos, please ask. I encourage prospective bidders to inspect the car.
