Vehicle Detail

1970 Saab 96 Try to find another one of these in the US for sale. This car has only been in the U.S. for a year. Imported from the Netherlands with all European Specs, everything in KM. This is about the most solid vintage Saab you will find, with room for improvement on the interior. The car is located near Annapolis, MD. I’ve driven this car several times and the longest drive was 90 minutes with no issues. It is historic and is not required to meet most States inspections, however feel confident it would. Drive train – - The engine is a V-4 which runs like a champ. It can be a little cold natured if you haven’t started in a few weeks, but nothing a few pumps of the pedal and 2nd or 3rd attempt it fires right up. If you start it every few days, it will fire right up on the first try. - Was told the clutch was replaced in the Netherlands prior to it’s arrival to the U.S. It’s a 4 speed manual transmission and is probably the easiest manual transmission, I’ve ever driven. Its rather fun. - The car, runs straight down the highway and does not drift to the sides or pull when braking. It’s a nice ride. Emergency brake works good. - The car has 95, 530 KM’s on it. You can translate to milage. - The engine bay appears very original without a bunch of sloppy wiring. Nice and tidy. Interior – - The interior could use some help. Drivers seat is torn. The top of the rear seat has deteriorated from the sun, its gone. The carpet needs replaced. The headliner has a couple little tears but not falling down. There is some trim roping which is at the edge of the headliner which needs replaced with fabric or plastic molding. Your choice. - Personally, I’d pull the seats, take them to an upholstery shop and have them covered in vinyl and replace the carpet myself while the seats are out. - The interior door panels are in good shape. - All gauges work, heater works, wipers work, radio in glove box works, Body – - The body is rust free with a driver quality shiny paint job. No body work or runs in the paint. The chrome is driver quality with a small rust spot on the rear bumper. - The dealer in the Netherlands removed the reverse lights since they are not required there. You may want to install them or reflectors to fill the voids. - The floor pans and trunk pans are in surperb shape with no evidence of patch work. - All of the glass is in good shape, no cracks or scratches. - The body does not have any major scratches or dents. - Drivers door handle will not open from the exterior. I believe the rod to the door lock came undone. You can open it from the inside though. If I have time, I will remove the 6 screws on the interior door panel and attempt to reconnect. It should be an easy fix. - Front tires are new, rear tires have plenty of tread but are checked on the side walls. I’d buy 2 to match the front. - There is not see a spare tire. This 70 Saab 96 is just a very cool old Retro car, you can ride around in and turn every head you pass. It’s a nice ride, easy to work on and very very fuel efficient. It comes with a Haynes manual written in English. Parts are available all over the internet. If you dare to be different this is the car for you. The car comes with a Netherlands Gov't title/registration and Netherland tags. Terms – The car is sold “As is, where is”. Buyer will pay and provide all shipping or drive it home if within a reasonable distance. $500 paypal deposit within 12 hours of auction end. Balance in cash or wire transfer within 72 hours of auction end. car must leave within 1 week of auction end. The Saab is for sale locally and the auction may end at any time. Offers welcome. Please don’t ask reserve. Call with questions.. Four Four Three- 496 – zero 7 zero 1. On Apr-27-13 at 12:23:07 PDT, seller added the following information: I was asked to do a compression test today. I have pictures of each reading if you need to see them. Back cylinder drivers side - 145 Front cylinder drivers side - 142 Back cylinder passenger side - 145 Front cylinder passenger side - 145 And to give you an idea how it runs, on the way home from my buddies doing the cylinder test, I recorded a video. Its the best I could do with one hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcdDQNDuJtw
