Powered by the standard in-line 250 cubic inch six cylinder flathead. The transmission is the optional "Tip-Toe Hydraulic Shift" which can best be described as a "semi-automatic". It does have a clutch pedal which is only required for initial start and selecting forward or reverse. The transmission will shift automatically to the next gear by momentarily lifting off the accelerator pedal. When stopped at a light there is no need to use the clutch, simply depress the accelerator pedal and your off again! The paint, interior, and trunk compartment are all original! Even the spare tire appears to be the original and never used. The original interior is excellent. The original paint is a bit dull after 60 years. The glove box contains the original owners manuals. This DeSoto runs and performs excellent. Also features new exhaust and recent tires.
