Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE You are looking at an exceptional 57,000 original mile, rust-free, non-smoker, one family owned 1997 Chevrolet 3500 Silverado 6.5 liter Turbo Diesel Crew Cab Dually 4x4 purchased new here in Oregon. The truck has never been involved in an accident and has been meticulously maintained its entire life. I’m listing the truck for a friend that doesn’t have an ebay account. His grandfather purchased the truck new and used it in his retirement to haul his camper. My friend (John) purchased it from his grandfather 5 years ago and used the truck sparingly in a similar capacity hauling a camper on trips. Due to a growing family and limited time to travel he has decided sell the truck. It will be sold to the high bidder of this auction. HISTORY AND EQUIPMENT: John’s grandfather special ordered the truck through Capitol Chevrolet in Salem, Oregon. He took delivery 11-08-96 around the time of his retirement and move to Enterprise, Oregon. His grandfather moved back to Salem 10 years later and owned the truck for a total of 12 years. It was stored inside during his ownership and was his pride and joy! John purchased it in 2008 with 45,000 miles and he and his wife have put a few thousand miles a year on it traveling. BODY AND PAINT: The truck has never been involved in a collision or sustained any frame damage. The body is 100% factory applied Victory Red paint with the exception of the left side dually flair and roof. The dually flair was damaged when the truck was brand new at a gas station and the roof was repainted when the visor was installed. The rest of the paint is in very nice original condition. The left dually flair was subsequently damaged a second time from the camper (pictured) and is also showing clear coat deterioration from the 1996 repair. There are a few small dings in the tailgate and a dent above the right taillight (pictured). Both sides of the truck are incredibly straight with very minor scratches, most of which would buff out. If you repaired and painted the dually flair and buffed the entire truck it would look like a brand new truck again. The bed has never had a fifth wheel and is in very nice shape with the exception of the scuffed left side wheel well (pictured) and two dents in the bed floor. The truck has a thin spray in bedliner that appears to be deteriorating in a few spots and could stand to be touched up. Oregon doesn’t use road salt that explains the exceptional condition of the frame and undercarriage. Overall, the paint flaws are minor and body panel fit is exceptional! INTERIOR: The Gray Leather interior is in exceptional condition and the truck has never been smoked in! The driver’s seat is showing some minor age related patina and the bottom cushion would benefit some dye work (pictured). The rest of the seats are in excellent condition and are very soft/supple. The headliner and carpets and door panels are in excellent condition. MECHANICAL: The 6.5 Turbo Diesel runs like a watch! The truck has always been meticulously maintained. Everything functions, as it should including the air-conditioning blowing cold. The only issue this truck has had during the past 16 years was injection pump failure. The injection pump was replaced and it had the updated PMD mounting system installed on the inner fender. The specialty diesel shop also replaced both batteries; this work was completed October 2012. All 6 tires were replaced December 2008 and have 11,000 miles of use. Overall, this truck has been extensively maintained, serviced and runs and drives beautifully.
