Vehicle Detail

1973/1974 Honda Elsinore CR250 in exceptional “original” condition. This is the motorcycle that changed motocross as we know it. Honda came out with the Honda Elsinore in 1973 and it was such a big hit that Honda could not keep up with the orders they were getting from the dealers. They are highly collectible and are fetching $2500 to $4000 fully restored on Ebay. There have been a couple 1974 Honda Elsinore CR 250’s on Ebay recently and one very similar to the condition that this one is in - went for $3500 – check it out in completed auctions – item number 150943934309. Another “unrestored” 1974 Elsinore had the bidding start at $4400 – item number 160921992129 and another 1974 250 that started at $4700 – item number 110979496977. Another just sold for $3225, Item #140938879736.This bike is in original, never restored condition and is in great shape for being 40 years old. It has been kept in the garage all its life, but was not ridden for over 30 years. It starts right up and runs great. It has Bridgestone "Motocross -6" Tire on the rear and "Motocross-7" on the front, I think they're the origional knobby tires on both the front and back and the back one is less than 1/2 way worn. It’s in great condition, so right there tell you this bike was not ridden a lot. It was always maintained and always taken care of. The motor is original to this bike - Frame: #CR250M-1011243 Engine: #CR250M 1011638. It has the all of the original parts with the exception of the Reproduction front number plate and a re-production seat cover, and it has reproduction Elsinore DG handlebars and a new DID chain that looks just like the origional, as the stock one was rusted solid (don't use a pressure washer!) It has the original exhaust with small dents that have been removed, and it has been repainted. Has the pickle silencer. There is still the yellow paint on the Rear Brake Pivot bolt that insures that it was tightened at the factory. There are a couple of dents in the tank. There is a scratch on one of the side number plates. There is a major scratch on the right upper part of the fork aluminum tube, but does not affect function. It has origional sprockets. Fenders have origional paint, and are a bit worn and scratched. Now I must mention that the steering stop on the front of the frame has been changed. It is now a solid block and looks like a Champion frame one. The weld looks excellent and was done by a certified TIG welder. The frame is otherwise unmolested, no cracks near the pegs or exhaust like on some.Hey- the bike is in great stock shape. Contrary to a block in the EBAY info, there is NO title. Bike is sold as-is with no warranty. On Apr-09-13 at 21:59:56 PDT, seller added the following information: REVISED 4-09-2013, 10:00PM 1973/1974 Honda Elsinore CR250 in excellent “original” condition. (Not sure if it is 1973 or 1974, please see engine number below.) This is the motorcycle that changed motocross as we know it. This bike is in original, never restored condition, EXCEPT FOR SEAT COVER, PIPE FIX, HANDLEBARS, REPRODUCTION FRONT NUMBER PLATE, CHAIN, AND STEERING STOP, see below, and is in great shape for being 40 years old. It has been kept in the garage all its life, but was not ridden for over 30 years. It starts right up and runs great. It has Bridgestone "Motocross -6" Tire on the rear and "Motocross-7" on the front, I think they're the origional knobby tires on both the front and back and the back one is ABOUT 1/2 way worn. It’s in great condition, so right there tell you this bike was not ridden a lot. It was always maintained and always taken care of. THERE IS A SMALL DENT ON THE REAR OF THE PICKLE, BETWEEN THE LOWER THIRD RIB AND THE MIDDLE SEAM. SEE NEW PHOTO. There is still the origional yellow paint on the Rear Brake Pivot bolt that insures that it was tightened at the factory. There are a couple of dents in the tank. ONE REAR RIGHT, JUST IN FRONT OF THE SEAT, YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE PHOTO, AND THE OTHER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BLACK PIN STRIPE ON THE LEFT. There is a scratch on one of the side number plates. There is a major SCRAPE on the right upper part of the fork aluminum tube, but does not affect function. FORK SEALS WEAP A BIT, SHOULD CHANGE IF YOU ARE GOING TO RACE IT. I CAN DETECT NO LEAKAGE OF THE REAR SHOCKS FROM JUST BOUNCING UP AND DOWN ON THE SEAT. It has origional sprockets. Fenders have origional paint, and are a bit worn and scratched.
