Up for auction with NO RESERVE!!! is a 1965 FORD MUSTANG HiPo K CODE COUPE! This is a RARE SPECIAL ORDER NON-COLOR CODE EMBERGLO CAR THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD IS 1 OF 1 SINCE THEY ONLY BUILT A LIMITED # OF K CODE COUPES IN 1965 THAT WERE NON-GT, MAKING THIS A VERY RARE SPECIAL VEHICLE THAT DESERVES TO BE RESTORED TO IT'S FORMER GLORY. This mustang was built in SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA where it has lived for its entire life. Unfortunately the HiPo K CODE 289 and TOP LOADER 4-SPEED were removed at some point in its life and replaced by a 2 barrel 289 and C4 automatic transmission I believe out of a 67 falcon. Since the ORIGINAL K CODE engine has been removed. The VIN number has been painted over on the inner drivers side engine compartment and the VIN number is still exposed on the passenger side. The color as you can see has been painted green at some point in its life from the ORIGINAL SPECIAL ORDER EMBERGLO color that was only available on the THUNDERBIRDS in 1965 and NOT ON THE MUSTANG UNTIL 1966. There is evidence of EMBERGLO in the trunk area and that is about it. The body of the car is NICE and STRAIGHT, there are a few spots of rust, one being the passenger side door, the rear passenger quarter, a tiny bit of bubbling on the driver side quarter and some cracking bondo. The floors, rockers and trunk are VERY CLEAN and SOLID. The interior is ALL ORIGINAL BLACK VINYL and in decent shape considering it is almost 48 years old. Unfortunately the dash has been cut for a pull out radio probably sometime in the 80's but they do make kits to put the dash back to ORIGINAL. The rally pac is long gone. The car is equipped with RARE RETRACTABLE SEAT BELTS THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN ON ANOTHER MUSTANG. The driver side is there, the passenger side is not present and may be in the trunk. The door sill plate on the passenger side is missing. A set of aftermarket gauges have been installed under the dash and all seem to work. The clutch pedal is still in the car and down on the floor making converting this car back to a 4-speed ideal. The car also has courtesy lights above each door in the headliner section that appear to be dealer installed options. This is another thing I have NEVER SEEN ON ANOTHER MUSTANG! ALL the ORIGINAL CARLITE GLASS is intact and ORIGINAL TO THE VEHICLE and in NICE SHAPE! The front passenger brake seems to be hanging up and since this car has been sitting I recommend going through all the brakes before driving this car on the road. As you can see in the pictures below the trunk is VERY SOLID and CLEAN! The car rolls on 1968 GT STYLED STEEL WHEELS. I'm not sure of the tire condition but they do hold air. I do have a set of front headlight pods but I don't have the grill, grill shell surround or the front bumper but they are readily available and easy to come by used or made aftermarket by Scott Drake and other companies. The 289 that is in there currently fires right up and runs well. Needs new battery, have to use jump box to start. It has GREAT oil pressure but I do believe the carburator needs to be rebuilt of replaced since the car wants to die under quick acceleration. Basically this car was purchased with the intention of doing a full ground up restoration and with other projects and no time I'm passing this VERY RARE K CODE COUPE ONTO A NEW LUCKY OWNER AT NO RESERVE!!!
