Vehicle Detail
I have owned this gem of a bike for the last five years. I bought it from the son of the original owner. This is a 1978 Honda Goldwing GL1000 with 36836 miles. I have put approximately 4000 trouble free miles on it. This bike caught my eye because of its styling and of the amount of money and work put into it by the previous owner. They were kind enough to give me most of their receipts which I will pass on to the next owner. The bike was stripped and professionally painted. All gauges work and are bright and clear. The frame was stripped and powder coated. Front and rear brake master cylinders rebuilt, new Jardine mufflers, replaced carbs with 4 rebuilt carb rack which have been professionally setup and balanced. Replaced ignition system with Dyna's complete with coils, plug wires, and spark plugs. All the emblems were replaced on pod sides and lower side covers. New rocker cover gaskets replaced, intake 0 rings replaced, triple tree and front shocks replaced, new clutch cable, new timing belt. In all over $2500 invested in upgrades and new parts. I have since rebuilt the water pump, replaced the brakes, and installed new plugs. I also installed new chrome heavy duty engine guards, a chrome radiator cover, a windshield, leather saddlebags, and an oil dipstick. Last fall I flushed out the cooling system and changed the oil and filter. New battery last year, and will include a battery tender. The bike also comes with its original Owners Manual and set of tools. I have some misc. parts such as an extra headlight, radiator, and a Clymer service manual which I will include. All I can say is that this a wonderful bike to ride both in town and out on the highway. I have enjoyed it immensely. I am 59 years old and soon to be retired. My wife bought me a new bike for the occasion, so while I hate to see it go, I feel good that I did my part to take good care of it. Since it is an older bike it does have a few little imperfections. The front fender has a small dent towards the back side but is barely noticeable, a few scratches here and there, but hopefully you can see from the pictures that it is still a real head turner. I have been honest with all of the photo documentation and description - I am an honest seller as you can see by my feedback, which I take pride in. This bike is not for sale locally so it will not be sold out from underneath you, so bid with confidence. Please don't ask me what the reserve price is, I am not trying to make a ton of money, but it is a fair price for the bike you are getting. $500 deposit through PayPal within 48 hours at end of auction for the winning bidder. I will accept cash or a cashier's check in person for the balance due. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will work with you on my end. Storage is not a problem as long as it's paid for. Feel free to contact me with any question you may have and I will make sure to get back to you as soon as I can. Spring is here, so now is the time to pick up a bike that is and will always be a collector and is extremely fun to ride!
