Honda’s answer to its own bike that changed the world, the CB750/4. This bike stunned the motorcycle culture with liquid cooling, shaft drive, and low center of gravity thanks to its unconventional gas tank location. This first generation flat black Gold Wing has lots of attitude thanks to its header wrapped Jardine pipes, solo seat, chopped rear fender with sausage tail light, chromed valve and timing belt covers and American Flyer, Body by Fisher badges, Indian Larry medallion and Russian cosmonaut wings. It always draws a crowd at bike night. One of the few bikes you can ride while repainting it by removing the faux tank sides and top, and side covers. This is of course because the gas tank is actually under the seat and the faux tank holds the electronics and other bits. You can have two or three bikes in one by having additional sets of side covers and faux tank covers in different colors. They can be changed out in minutes to give you a totally different look. Or you can ride it Frankenbike style with no tank or side covers. Additional tank and side covers are readily available on EBay at minimal cost. This bike has been converted from conventional breaker points to electronic ignition to improve reliability and performance and currently has 49K on the clock. The bike starts easily, idles and runs good and has another 50K left in it. The purist may want to tweak the carbs a little to improve performance but the bike is road worthy as is. It was ridden today and every decent riding day of the last couple of Illinois riding seasons. I can include the original front fender, king and queen seat and other original equipment when the bike sells if requested. I even have the original factory detachable kick starter that hides in the faux gas tank, a hard to find item. Its hard to believe that when the Gold Wing first came out Honda did not even offer a fairing or saddle bags. So the original Wing was a naked bike before anyone knew what a naked bike was. This bike takes that minimalist attitude to an extreme. When you pull up to a stop light next to a new Gold Wing and point to the name on your bike the other Gold Wing rider does a double take for sure, especially when you leave him in the dust. You would be surprised how hard you can push this bike into the curves and lay it over. It has a current and clear Illinois title in my name in hand. If you miss having a bike with a center stand this bike might be for you. If you don’t know what a center stand is, maybe not. Lots of bike for the money.
