Vehicle Detail
I just re-listed this truck due to errors in the description--it is an F250 NOT an F100. This is a rust free 1966 F250 4x4. Arizona vehicle. Engine (FE390) runs strong and the truck is very fast--until the manual transmission locked up. It is a NP435 with the first gear granny. It is now stuck in gear and makes noise. These are relatively easy to rebuild. The external case is not leaking and it was getting progressively harder to shift gears over the last few months. I had local quotes of $600.00 plus parts to remove, rebuild and replace the unit at Four Wheelers Supply in Phoenix, Arizona: 602-273-7195. The transfer case looks to be a Dana 24 divorced style. In other words the transfer case is NOT attached to the transmission. The two are connected by a drive shaft approximately 20" long. This is how Ford made these trucks in 1966. The benefit is that any car type transmission can be used with out an adapter. Simply use a short drive shaft coupled to the Dana 24. I have a lead on a C4 Automatic for the 352 FE with low miles complete with torque converter and a Lokar shifter that can be had for under $700.00 locally. It was still available when I checked at the time of this posting. The front axle is a ball joint style Dana 44. The rear axle is either a full floater Dana 60. I believe the gears are 4:56s. The wheels look to be real Alcoa's. The BFG tires are at least 6 years old but have almost all of their tread. The bed has has been sprayed by Inyati. There is NO RUST on this truck. As is NONE. As in it never had any. It is solid. The paint job looks good from 6' away but is by no means show quality. It is a basic low budget paint job but as I said it looks good. The FE352 runs very strong. The valve covers leak oil and so does the pan. Has power steering. I do not believe that this is the original motor. As indicated, before the transmission locked up this truck was fast. Transfer case works fine, its a two speed: low and high. The font drive shaft is missing. Truck will roll onto a flat bed and engine starts right up. The front leaf springs have had the shackle reversal. Ford put the piviot in the front at the factory. All modern leaf spring vehicles have the pivot in the rear of the spring. The front cross member was notched by the previous owner to allow winch clearance. The VIN: F26YE830925 I am an Arizona attorney and I can be found in the Arizona Bar registry.
