Vehicle Detail
Hey guys and gals, what we have going up on the auction block today is a 1964 Ford Galaxie convertible. I bought this from a nice family a few towns over recently and after assessing it briefly, I figured this would be a parts car to part out (that's what I mainly post on ebay). Then I started working on it and thought otherwise. Spent a good chunk of time getting it running and to my surprise, the car was much, much, much nicer than I thought. The car appears to have 87k miles on it, and according to the title, I believe it. It's equipped with a 390 4 bbl engine that starts and runs rather well. Nice low idle, ignition misses on both banks, so I'd assume a tune up is in order. Auto transmission is the optional Cruiseomatic 3 speed, and shifts both forward and backward just fine. No sluggish engaging. Brakes stop the car as they should. Exhaust appears to be redone at some point, and while it may not be perfect and may have some small holes in the mufflers (rearward) it sounds nice, not rotted project car exhaust by a long shot. The rear is your typical Ford 9" of that era, I'd assume low 3.xx gears. Power steering which during lot driving performed as well as any 60's Ford's PS I have ever owned. Interior is pretty complete, needs a redo or at least a killer cleaning. The car needs some floor work, trunk work...trunk is the worst rotwise, the gas tank mounts rotted out...tank is in trunk. Inner rockers are surprisingly not bad. Outer on passenger side is pretty beat, drivers side not terrible. Lower quarter on passenger side bubbly and rotted, driver not terrible. The first thing that made me realize I should try to get it running was the fact that the doors close almost like a new car. Really crazy! Close with one finger, no joke! Frame looks pretty good, I didnt see anything bad. All glass good and goes up and down rather easily. Power top and, get this, it works! The top was somewhat frozen so I worked it with some lithium grease at its hinge points. The car has a clean and clear NJ title. Any questions call Chris 908.884.7120
