Vehicle Detail
Up for bid today we have my daily driver 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I had wanted one of these for years and stumbled upon this one for sale locally. Now with 78,000 on the clock, I realize she may be TOO nice for me, and its time to pass her on to the next owner. Equipped with the AMC 360 V8 and 727 Automatic transmission, this is one solid, original, great running Waggy. She spent most of her life in Nevada, and it shows! Well optioned, as most Grand Wagoneers of this time period were, including Leather trimmed seats and steering wheel, power windows, locks, seats, and rear window, A/C, fog lights, AM/FM cassette player, and the optional Jeep class III tow package. Here are the finer points: Mechanical As mentioned, she is powered by the 360 V8 like so many others. Starts on one (sometimes two) pumps of the gas! Idles smooth and strong... no noises, rattles, smoke, pinging, etc... Has a recent tune-up, exhaust manifold gaskets, and egr valve. Transmission shifts beautifully and fluid is in nice condition. Dana 44 axle gear oils and tranfer case fluid are fresh and clean. Exhaust is solid with no hanging bits. Has the "selec-trac" four-wheel-drive system, which works perfectly... got me through numerous storms this season with no problem whatsoever! Brakes have plenty of pad/shoe and stop smoothly. Tires are a nice set of Michelins with tons of tread left. Shocks are another recent replacement. Heat will bake you and the A/C will freeze you... yes, it still works! I'd take her anywhere, anytime with confidence! Body This Grand Wagoneer is finished in factory applied silver metallic. While that's great from an originality standpoint, those in the know, know that factory clearcoat is generally not a Waggy's strong suit. That being said, paint IS in great shape... still has plenty of shine with only a couple of thin spots on the hood and passenger side. Exceptionally presentable, and gets compliments everywhere she goes. Very solid... no rot or previous repairs. Does have a minor ding or two, plus a scrape on the driver's quarter. Frame is solid, only minor scale indicitive of a mostly Western life. Does have gas tank skid plate rust very common to these beasts. Make no mistake... this is not a beat-up vehicle. I'm just telling you about the stuff others let you discover AFTER you've won it. Wood is in great shape as well. Electrical As mentioned above... nicely optioned. Power seats and windows work perfectly... including the rear window. Keyless entry works well, as do the power locks (with the exception of the passenger rear... a little cranky sometimes!) All lights indide and out work perfectly, as do the gauges and radio. Sorry... gave up my last casette years ago, so I don't know if the player works. Overhead console lights, compass and temp work, as does the clock. No weird electrical gremlins that other Waggys seem to be plagued with. Interior I looked at a number of Wagoneers before I purchased this one, and unless you wanted to buy one of those crazy "Wagonmaster" rigs or a 30,000 mile time capsule, you'd be hard pressed to find an interior as clean and well cared for as this one. Not perfect, but one of the nicer ones I've seen. Cordovan leather and cord combo is in fantastic shape. Headliner does not sag, and even the orignal floormats are present and show little to no wear. Armrest does have some wear, as does the cargo area, but none of those issues stand out. Even has the original, operational cargo cover that is usually missing. You can probably find a nicer Grand Wagoneer, and you could also find one that would be cheaper, but I think there is tremendous value in this example. Excellent as a daily driver or as a collector piece. Drive her with pride and confidence. I've done my best to tell all. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask. I'm available through e-mail, or by cell, 914-489-8284. I can snap more pics, and show her in person if you desire. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is, with absolutely no warranties expressed or implied. Do not bid if you cannot finalize the transaction. Bidders with less than 10 feedback (or with negative feedback) must contact me before bidding. Winning bidder will provide a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit within 24 hours of auctions' end. The balance will be due within 7 days, unless other arrangements are made. Deposit may be paypal or cash. Balance in CASH only. Not interested in plaing games, so don't waste your time or mine. Lastly, I will be listing her locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early due to a local sale. I think I've set a reasonable reserve on this wonderful, orignal, unmolested Wagoneer, but I'm not willing to share it. Again, any other questions just ask! Good luck! Adam
