Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a very cool old Mopar. A very difficult to find, 1969 Polara 4 dr sedan, powered by a factory big block. 69 Polara's are very difficult to find in this condition. Most have long ago been stripped of their powertrains, wrecked or rusted away. This Polara is a great survivor-rust free and built as a tribute to the greatest Highway Patrol car ever built-the Pursuit Special. The big block has been fitted with a factory 4bbl manifold, a new 4bbl carb, a new Comp Cams camshaft and cam kit(about the same specs as a Road Runner factory cam) and a set of very rare factory, C-body Hi Po exhaust manifolds. Its been converted to Mopar electronic ignition, a set of Mopar plug wires and a very rare(one year only!) '69 dual snorkel air cleaner. The transmission has been gone through and shifts fantastic, the exhaust manifolds have been connected to a factory style dual exhaust via a set of TTI, mandral bent downpipes. A factory power disc brake car, the Polara stops straight and true. New shocks, battery, belts, coil, regulator, Ballast resistor, etc ensure that this mighty Polara moves down the road with authority. As part of its transformation to Pursuit status, it is also fitted with an unobtainable factory, 140mph certified Police speedometer. All of the gauges work(unheard in old Mopars of this vintage)-even the factory radio works well-both speakers. It is also kitted out with some vintage, period correct Police radio gear. There are also a nice set of correct Deitz deck lights(with the correct bracket). They are fully fuctional and currently equipped with amber spots. The left A-pillar is fitted with the correct Unity H-1 spotlight with red spot. The handle is an NOS, white bakelight piece-just as it would have been installed in 1969. There is also a period siren under the hood(activated via a dash switch. Under the hood, a Cadillac overflow bottle has been fitted, just as it was done by the California Highway Patrol on their 69 Polara Interceptors. All of the lights work as they should as do the windshield wipers(also rare in old Mopars). What makes this Polara even more special, is that it features the full livery of the Nevada Highway Patrol. While CHP restorations and tributes exist with some frequency, NHP Interceptors are rarely seen. The NHP and CHP shared build specs during the glory days of police squad cars. Emblazoned with the Nevada Highway Patrol star and lettering, over a striking blue/silver paint combo, this Polara has imposing road presence. Modern traffic moves out of the way like a school of fish before the approach of a great white shark. This Polara drives very well, cruises easily at modern traffic speeds and tracks very well. It runs cool, starts easily(equipped with a high torque, mini starter) and steers well. It doesn't leak and sounds authoritative at idle and cruise. I've driven this Polara many miles across the southern California roadways and it never fails to garner positive reactions and thumbs ups. Its a great driver. The condition of this big Mopar is respectfull of what these cars were-a powerful law enforcement tool. Not built as showcars, but rather, to run down the musclecars of the era-Cudas, Chargers and Mustangs new that it was game on when one of these mighty interceptors were in their mirrors. This Polara has driver quality paint, its rust free and looks pretty good. It is not perfect, however. The chrome is serviceable, not perfect, figure a some paint chips, minor door dings, etc. The interior is nice with a good headliner, nice seats and good door/window hardware. The tops of both front door panels have some wear and the dash(like every Polara of this period!) is cracked-although covered by a nice custom dash mat. Carpet is original with some wear. There are a nice set of Mopar steel wheels, Stainless steel(the good ones), redline dogdish hub caps and good, beefy tires. In short, this is a great opportunity for the Mopar of Police enthusiast to own a ready to enjoy classic. Whenever I take it to Cars and Coffees or local events, it never fails to draw an appreciative crowd-eveyone loves these old squad cars and you will be besieged for pictures-good fun! I also own a 69 CHP Polara and regretfully am selling this one as I just need to reduce my collection a bit. I hope it goes to a good home, good luck and thanks for bidding.
