Vehicle Detail
Up for grabs is my little customization project. This is a friends car that I wanted to see with a Plasti-Dip black paint job. So I painted the car with flat black and installed a carbon fiber vinyl roof panel. BMW uses carbon fiber on the M3 and M5 roofs, and it is a cool look. It has a blue interior accents. That makes it loud and fun! It has a cold air intake with performance filter and a muffler tip that's huge. It makes the little car have some bark! It has new wheel covers that look great. You have to search youtube to see the new Plasti-Dip revolution in painting cars. It is a rubber based paint and can be touched up as needed very easily. So the project was a huge success! The car gets great comments wherever I go. Now I have the skills to do expensive cars with the same products. So a little about the car. It is a small car that gets great gas MPG. It has a 1.5L engine. It has good power, but is no speed demon. It has drivers and passenger air bags. No problems with the Air Bag Light or the Check Engine Light. The registration in California is good until Dec. 2013, so it's only $15 to transfer into your name. It has a few issues that can be solved over time, but it runs and drives just fine. The right door has a minor dent, but the flat paint hides it well. (see picture) Only a few other minor dings in the body. (hard to see in the pics) The A/C blows cold, and the heat works well. The front seat fabric is worn out, but the wet suit neoprene seat covers hide it perfectly. The seats are comfortable. It passed smog last week with no problems. It idles smooth with no smoking or problems. I would trust the car to take on a out of town trip. It has a nice dark window tint job on the rear 3 windows. It would make a teenager very happy. I have the California title in hand. Not a branded title, it is a clear title. The CarFax shows several owners, but my friend says he has had the car since 1996. Here's a list of the issues I know of: 35% of the time, the key just clicks when turned the first time. You just turn the key a few more times and the starter engages. I am sure it needs a starter or ignition switch, but it has started like this for years and works good enough for me. I can diagnose and fix it for the buyer before pickup, but the repair costs are extra. The engine and transmission have minor leaks. Not enough to even drip every time its parked. Just trying to be accurate. There is a little power steering fluid coming from the rack & pinion unit. At some point it will need a re-manufactured unit installed. But seems fine for now, again, no constant drips. Two tires are over 50% and two are 20% tread remaining. Could use two tires. Cheap 13" size. The two fan belts have some cracking, so they should be replaced. The two engine mounts are original and are cracked, but working ok. My mechanic that checked the car, thought there is wheel bearing noise from the rear. I don't hear it. They are easy to replace. You will have to decide if they need attention. The right front turn signal lens is loose. The clip is broken. It stays put. I see they get $27 on Rockauto.com There is no spare tire or jack. Should be easy to find in a wreaking yard or on ebay. The retail blue book for the car is $2785. Plasti-Dip paint jobs are going for $600 and the vinyl roof panel job is worth $300. Decent small cars are bringing high prices because of demand and high gas prices. I would think this car is worth $2500 -$3000 even needing 2 tires and a few things. They are hard to find, that still have some life left, so maybe more? But I love to see what the Ebay bidders will set the price at. So, have at it! No reserve! You won't be disappointed with the cars condition or drivability. You can come by, check it out, and drive it if you are near to Thousand Oaks, CA. Email me with any questions. Please don't bid if you can't afford to pay for the car. NO trades. Non-paying bidders will be hated and reported. Keep Ebay working great, no I will not end the auction early because Aunt Sally will do this or that. Please deposit $250 within 48 hours of auction ending. Please pay on car pickup within 10 days of auction ending. I have been working on cars for over 30 years. I am not a beginner. Please no scams or funny stuff.
