This car has been pampered for its entire life. Under 55,000 documented original miles. I have owned this car for 4 years and have driven it daily. I have a giant folder of receipts and paperwork dating back from when the car was new, including the original window sticker. The interior is original, and in excellent condition. The trunk lid, front fenders, and passenger door have been re-painted by a previous owner, but the remainder if the exterior has the original paint (Marina Blue). The floor pans, heater channels, etc. are absolutely solid. Every year, the car is sprayed with “Krown” rustproofing. http://www.krown.com/ This is a Canadian product, not available in the U.S., but I live in the Detroit area, so it is an easy drive to Canada once a year. This car is a driver, not a show car, so it has its share of stone chips, which have been touched up. Much more than “presentable” it’s a great looking car. The engine is a stock 1600 AE and is original to the car. It has never been split. The heads have been replaced with OE VW Mexico heads with 3/4" reach spark plug bores and thicker valve stems. The transmission has been overhauled by a qualified VW specialist, and shifts perfectly. It is also original to the car. The entire braking system has been replaced, using all high quality German parts. ATE Master and wheel cylinders, Zimmermann rear drums, Sebro front drums, and braided stainless steel flex hoses. Bilstein shock absorbers and strut inserts. The car has had a very recent 4 wheel alignment. During my ownership, I have made a few modifications to make this car more viable in the modern world: FOR SAFETY 4- Vredestein "Snow Plus" Winter tires mounted on stock VW steel wheels 165-15. 4- Vredestein "Sprint Classic" Summer tires mounted on VW stock steel wheels with aluminum trim rings. Intermittent wiper control (Cole Hersee) with variable interval and electric washer. Daytime running lights with WebElectric control module, which illuminates the front turn signal filaments (21W) when headlights or turn signals are not in use. Hella center brake light in rear window with WebElectric pulsing module, which pulses the center brake light 3 times on initial braking. (The center brake light will not pulse again for 15 seconds of no braking to avoid nuisance in stop and go traffic.) 55W halogen headlights. Updated retractable 3 point seat belts for front seats. FOR RELIABILITY Full flow oil filtering through a Canton Mecca filter. Setrab Fan Pack auxiliary oil cooler with thermo switch to trigger fan at 190* Derale oil thermostat restricts oil flow to cooler below 180* oil temperature. Westach 4 function engine monitor gauge reading CHT, Oil Temp., Oil Pressure and Volts. Mallory Unilite distributor, which triggers a Mallory Hyfire CD ignition. MSD 40,000 volt coil, Aurora wires. A Fram HPG1 fuel filter is mounted beneath the fuel tank. FOR COMFORT Eberspacher BN2 Gas Heater with electronic controls for ignition and fuel; thermostatically controlled, with 2 key fob remotes. Pop out rear quarter windows. The car has a Retrosound Model 1 radio and 4 speakers which can be removed leaving no scars, if desired. The car has a Rostra cruise control with electric servo; very nice for long freeway drives. SUMMARY This is a great car! Everything works exactly as it should. All of the work than has been done was with the highest quality parts available, with the intent of keeping it “forever”. Many spares go with the car. Additional photos and info on request.
