Vehicle Detail
This is a GREAT CAR. Not a perfect car… but a great one. I've owned and driven this wagon for the last 7 years. I'm selling it because I am now commuting a longer distance and I've bought a 1979 240d for the better mileage. Mechanically this car is in terrific shape. I've driven a couple other 300tds and this one has more power than either of the others that I have driven… not that it is a muscle car or anything, but it has no trouble keeping up with the fast cars on the interstate. The engine runs great and does not smoke. Starts up great even on the coldest mornings, and consumes very little oil between oil changes. The transmission was rebuilt about 30k miles ago. It shifts smoothly, and doesn't have the clunks that some of these older wagons develop. This has been a great car for me an I would love to see it go to a good home. There are a couple of imperfections that any buyer should be aware of. The sunroof has been sealed closed. I this is because it was leaking, and the head liner above the dash board has some water damage as you can see in the pictures. the rest of the head liner is in decent but not pristine condition. Sometimes when driving in very heavy rain a little drip will get inside. The power door locks aren't working. I'm told this is an easy repair, but I have not done it. Manual door locks have been working fine for me. And there is a rust spot on the roof above the passenger's side door (see pictures). The odometer reads 293,506 miles, but it stopped a couple of years ago. I estimate the car now has about 320,000 miles on it. AC is not working, and I haven't tried to get it fixed, but I'm told the parts are all still there. Heat and defroster work great. Some of the lines of the rear window defroster are not working. Also the rear window wiper is not working. All the fuel lines have been upgraded to run BioDiesel, which the car runs great on. I ran it on ASTM-spec BioDiesel for several years until I started commuting and I need the convenience of gas stations. It has not been converted for Veg-Oil, but certainly could be. The paint has faded in a couple of spots like on the driver's side hood (see pictures). The trailer hitch receptacle and electrical hook up in the pictures has been removed. And finally the Mercedes hood ornament is missing… but everyone will still know you are driving a Mercedes! This is a truly great vehicle in terrific mechanical shape and decent cosmetic condition with many many more miles on her.
