The 2008 Bentley Continental Flying Spur is powered by a 6.0L aluminum-alloy, twin-turbo W12 engine--a unique V12 design that actually has four cylinder banks and a very compact overall design for a twelve-cylinder engine. All Flying Spurs also get a full-time all-wheel drive system to deliver the power smoothly, through a six-speed automatic transmission.That much power and speed requires good brakes; Bentley claims the huge ventilated discs to be the largest on any production car for sale today. The steering is precise for such a big car as well; it's surprisingly maneuverable for a 209-inch-long car, with a turning circle of less than 39 feet.Outside of its recognizable Bentley front end and imposing presence on the road, the Flying Spur's roomy, luxurious interior is what really brings buyers to the model. It features hides in many different colors, along with several different wood veneers, all natural, unbleached, and hand-lacquered, with mirror-image grain symmetry in each car. The center console features a distinctive Breitling timepiece, revised for 2008, while the steering wheel boasts hand-stitched leather trim, pedals are finished with stainless-steel covers, and the air vents have real chrome handles.The Flying Spur includes all of the high-end luxury equipment that you would find in the over-$200,000 price range, such as separate rear climate-control settings, power latches for all doors, lumbar-adjustable front seats, and a screen-driven control system that includes navigation features.Like other Bentley models, Flying Spurs are very well equipped, and options are treated as a means of personalizing the car.
