Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a documented 1969 Pontiac Firebird HO/Ram Air 3, M-21 Close Ratio 4-speed with 3.90 posi. The car has 83,000 miles on the original WQ numbers matching 400 that has not been rebuilt, numbers matching M-21 trans that has not been rebuilt and the original Safe-T-Track 3.90 posi ZK rearend that has not been rebuilt. All the sheet metal is original polished, bumpers (re-chromed) and molding are all original (emblems are new), hood tach, original exhaust, new interior, recently re-painted correct Windward Blue. The carburetor is the only thing missing from the car as it is a clone carb with the right numbers. The past owner said that he had a new carburetor car put on it just before the car was parked and unfortunately didn't have the original. The carb that was on the car is a correct replacement carb that I still have (1968 RA Carb). I found the car around the corner from my house covered in ivy and untouched for over thirty years. The car was put back together using all the original parts that were cleaned up, painted and put back on. According to the last owner I am the third owner as he was the second and the original owner was an older women. The second owner bought the car in high school and drove it until the clutch went out at which time it was parked and not moved for thirty years...lucky find for me!!! The car is one of 563 HO/Ram Air III Manual 1969 Firebirds. It is also one of less than 70 Firebirds that would have been optioned with the M-21. I am not sure how many Firebird Ram Air 3 cars had this. I do know that there were only 113 cars built with the m-21 and 46 of the were Ram Air 4's. I have all the PHS documentation for the car but the car didn't have the build sheet. The car drives perfect and is driven around the local town and to shows regularly. It runs and drives perfectly. The only engine work that was done is I installed new gaskets, new bearings, and had the heads freshened up. Everything else is untouched. No boring, no honing, all original components. The bearing were only replaced because it just seemed like the logical thing to do since the engine had 80k miles (probably wasn't necessary). The engine has 175-180 cranking pressure in the cylinders and doesn't leak or burn any oil and doesn't smoke a bit. Runs Perfect!I replaced the clutch with a dual friction centerforce. Let me know if you have any questions. Buyer would be responsible for all shipping and a 500 dollar deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction ending. Thanks! On Jan-27-13 at 10:15:47 PST, seller added the following information: My numbers about the M-21 specs wrong. According to my research there were no Ram Air 3 Trans Ams with the M-21, only the 4. So out of the 113 M-21 cars in 1969 in the RA3 model they must have been Firebirds. Either way very rare.On Jan-27-13 at 10:40:34 PST, seller added the following information: Also, I added a picture of the stereo system installed under the package tray and a few others. The stereo is bluetooth so that it works with your smartphone and the remote under the dash is also removable during car shown since it is only velcroe holding it in place. No cutting was done to install this system. The picture of the car on the trailer is how it looked after it was pulled out after 30 years. On Jan-30-13 at 19:01:23 PST, seller added the following information: Will consider trades for steel 34' Ford.
