Vehicle Detail
Nice 1974 Caddy Eldo convertible up for auction with NO RESERVE - Last year for the fender skirts! 89k, 500 V8. Options include thermometer on driver's mirror, passenger side mirror, and telescoping and tilt steering wheel. All original including am/fm auto-seek stereo with working 8-track tape player. Mechanical: new exhaust system from engine back in December 2009, done right with Walker muffler and resonator, Caddy runs nice and quiet. Summer of 2011 I did new front brake calipers, brake hoses, rotors and pads as well as a new radiator and hoses, new belts as well as four wide whitewall all season radial tires (over $2000 total). Front end is nice and tight, no wandering. I bought the Caddy in Spring 2010 from an older gentleman in Connecticut who did most of the work to the car then had to sell due to poor health. He owned it since the early 80's and told me the mileage is original. My mechanic told me it may very well be the original mileage considering the overall mechanical and cosmetic condition. I've put about 6000 miles on the Caddy since I've had it. Cosmetic: convertible top replaced in 2005 with glass back window with defrost ($200 additional over plastic window), top goes up and down easily with the push of a button, no help necessary. Power windows work well, quick and easy. Interior is very nice, power seats work in all directions and the air conditioning and climate control works properly through all vents, a/c compressor turns on but does not blow cold. The Caddy still wears original paint, some bubbling in paint visible when up close. I addressed the main issue I had with the appearance of the Caddy and replaced all the cracking and crumbling front and rear fiberglass bumper and fender fillers with brand new pieces (complete set cost $600 plus paint and installation). Now that all the fillers are all replaced a new paint job would really make her shine. The leather on all the seats in is great shape, no cracking in the leather, carpet is a bit faded but no rips and the dashboard and door panels are perfect with no sun cracks. The key for the doors and trunk were lost by the previous owner, it hasn't bothered me since the trunk opens with a button in the glove box. A new key can be easily made by by bringing the glovebox lock (comes off easily with a clip) to a locksmith. I did this with a previous Caddy and it cost $20 to make two keys. The bumpers are a bit dull but straight and the stainless trim is in very nice condition. Floors and trunk are solid, never patched, the Eldo has been a Garage Queen all her life. This is the last year the Eldorado had rear fender skirts. She's roadworthy, all directional/brake/turn signal/headlights work (even the cool multi-color fender indicators) as well as wipers and horn. Engine always starts easily, even after sitting for a month or two. Cruises nicely on the highway, holds the road perfectly. Runs very strong, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly (rebuilt carb) shifts smoothly, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Drives overall like a Caddy should. Always garaged, Eldo is almost spotless undearneath; floors and trunk completely solid. No leaks, garage floor always dry when I take her out. VIN is 6L67S4Q438595. Nice classic Caddy which will only appreciate in value! Any questions feel free to call or email. 914-224-3230 1973, 1975, 1976, convertable, caddilac, caddy, eldo, buick
