Vehicle Detail

For sale we have a gorgeous 1968 Jaguar E-Type with the 4.2 L, dual overhead cam, straight 6 Cylinder engine with Triple SU Carbs, a Borg-Warner automatic transmission, and factory air conditioning converted to R-134! I am listing this for a friend of the family with no eBay account but will do my best to describe the vehicle and put you in touch with the owner’s son for specific questions and details where answers are not already provided in the listing. This Jag has just under 72K original miles! Opulescent British Racing Green paint (car was originally silver but painted twice in the 70’s and one last time a few years ago). The paint and body are exceptional and even with some rust issues repaired before the last paint job; the car has no visible evidence of body work that I can tell. No visible rust on the car now. Triple SU Carbs were installed and replaced the factory dual carbs after purchase from the original dealer in 1968. The car was a dealer demo and purchased by the current owner in 1968 with roughly 4K miles on it. This is basically a 1 owner car! Jag was then painted Opulescent British Racing Green and the Triple SU’s, racing head and lifters were added. Engine blew shortly after due to some defects in the head and was replaced in the 70's with another engine from a wrecked e-Type with similar mileage so this is not a numbers matching car but you could never tell unless I told you. The interior vinyl has been replaced in some areas and it is a bit beat up other in areas. The rocker panel vinyl areas where your legs go are definitely not original and on the drivers side up near the bonnet latch it looks like it melted, definitely damaged by heat. Maybe during some metal replacement during the last restoration. Also the leather definitely looks like it is 40 years old. Drivers seat has some blown stitching seams that need to be repaired. The rear seat back has marks on it like the leather was scraped. The dash cover that looks to have been replaced at one time, but overall the interior is still in great shape for being more than 40 years old. The current owner was recently placed in assisted living but he and his wife were Jag fanatics all their lives. There is more Jaguar paraphernalia in their home and in this car than you could imagine including original repair and service manuals, plaques, etc.! They have owned and driven virtually every pre-1980 Jaguar that existed. XK-120, XK-150, 3.8, etc. etc. The car was garage kept under cover its entire life and it shows. 3 spare wire wheels, the original repair manuals, and other Jag paraphernalia are all included with the sale. The car has good tires all around and the chrome wire wheels on it have been painted with silver paint and would need to be re-chromed to be original. Maintenance on the car was kept up religiously until the last few years when the owner’s health declined. The car runs and drives now but the carbs should be cleaned/rebuilt and the transmission leaks and should be dropped and rebuilt with new seals. The transmission leaks fluid and shifts hard when low. You can drive it as is but if you are a true E-Type enthusiast; you’ll go the extra mile. The car has probably not been driven more than a couple of hundred miles in the last couple of years. All glass is good, chrome on the bumpers has tiny pits but barely visible, and the brakes are good. Overall a phenomenal one owner survivor and an exceptional example of the cars built between the Series I and Series II. We had a Jag collector come out and look at the car and he was thoroughly impressed with the car overall. The reserve has been set much lower than his valuation. I have added a Buy it Now price to the listing which is the minimum the owner is wanting to let it go for but can be negotiated within reason. Any bidder with less than 100% positive feedback and without more than 10 transactions will be cancelled unless you contact me first. I can be reached at 301.633.8116 for questions and can help to arrange reasonable delivery cost of the car virtually anywhere in the world at the buyer’s expense. $500 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit due upon auction close. Balance in Cash or other negotiated method within 7 days of auction close. Car is as is where is with no warranties epressed or implied. This is a 45 year old car. Thanks and good luck! You will not be disappointed adding this beautiful vehicle to your collection!
