THE BRAKES NEED TO BE REBUILT AND THE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE CHECKED OUT. MY FRIENDS GOT THE ENGINE RUNNING THREE TIMES BETWEEN DECEMBER 21ST AND THE 27TH WHEN THE BUYER WAS SUPPOSED TO PICK IT UP. I SAW IT RUN THE THIRD TIME AND IT DOES IN FACT PURR LIKE A KITTEN AND THERE IS NO SMOKE. NOW FOR THOSE OF YOU NOT IN THE KNOW, YOU'RE PROBABLY ASKING HOW DID THEY GET THE ENGINE RUNNING IF THE GAS TANK IS SPECULATIVE? YOU CONNECT A FUNNEL TO A HOSE AND HOOK THE OTHER END TO THE CARB(S) AND PUT FUEL IN THE FUNNEL AND WITH THE USE OF A REMOTE STARTER SWITCH (AS THERE ARE NO KEYS) VOILA! THE ENGINE STARTS IF IT IS ANY GOOD. BY THE WAY, I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED SIX EMAILS TELLING ME THAT THIS IS A 59-61 VOLVO, SO YOU DON'T NEED TO CONTACT ME ABOUT THAT. THE LIEN PAPERS WHICH COME WITH THE CAR WHICH WERE PREARED BY THE DMV SAY THAT IT IS A 1963. GO FIGURE? IN ADDITION TO THE EXTRA HEAD, INTAKE MANIFOLD, AND TWO CARBS, THERE ARE ALSO TWO ROUND AIR FILTERS, AN EXTRA GRILL, VALVE COVER AND SMALL PARTS AND BOLTS, THREE EXTRA BEAUTY RINGS, EXTRA STAINLESS MOULDINGS AND SOME OTHER SMALL PARTS. Listing this for a friend. Not sure exactly what year this is. My friends niece says she researched the numbers and came up with 1959-60, but my friend says the lien sale papers say 1963. This was once a very nice vehicle. It looks like it had all the goodies and was red in color. This is probably only suitable as a parts car unless you are willing to deal with rusted floor pans. The engine runs and the transmission moves in reverse and first gear. Don't know about the rest of the gears, the vehicle was never driven down the road when purchased from the previous owner. In my experiences with manual transmissions, if first and reverse gear are working then usually all the rest of the gears are okay also. In the pictures you will note that the vehicle is on jack stands, this was done to see how bad the rust in the floor pans is. This sale also includes an extra cylinder head and two SU carburetors, intake manifold, two extra wheels and tires one wheel has the other beauty ring on it and some headlight parts. I don't remember seeing any major dents or damage to this vehicle except that one side of the hood hinge is broken and of course the rusted floor pans.
