Vehicle Detail

I have personally put every mile on this bike since mile 249 starting on the 4th of July weekend in 2002 --until now. In my mind there is no other used bike to be less concerned about than the Teutonic precision of a German made BMW. Never a hint of mechanical issues ever. It sits for 4 months over winter and starts immediately when asked It has been from Virginia to Kansas, Kansas to Seattle, Sturgis, the Badlands, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Oregon, All over western half of Canada and British Columbia, Vancouver Island, around all the great lakes, eastern Canada and from Washington to California, Yosemite, along the CA coast, Baja Mexico, through the South, Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkanasas and all round the Midwest. 90% of all the miles have been freeway. It is an awesome two up tourer and very nimble at speed. My Girlfriend has been so secure she has fallen asleep on the back seat. Not as nimble at low speeds. Best be carful in parking lots, especially with a sleepy passenger.I feel safer at 90 than 9 MPH. I did, alone, two 1,000 + mile days back to back Seattle to Missouri once. It was easy. Its a big bike and not for those with weak legs, short legs is ok but it is a heavy bike. I have commonly obtained 44 MPG. five speed- Fifth gear is a very tall gear. It has always been garaged , pampered and has had all its factory service done (6,000, 12,000 and 18,000 miles)save oil changes, which you can do yourself and I have changed the oil --like all my motors-- far more often than is necessary or recommended. Many say I'm ni=uts but my stuff is well cared for and lasts forever. If I were to buy a used machine I would want to buy it from me. I feel to be not puffing at all to say this 11 year old is barely broken in.This bike has had oil/ filter changed 15 times +- at mile markers 800; 1,454; 2,639; 4,698;6,605;8,500, 9,429;10,553;13,065; 14,000;15,175;16,473,17,500,18,177;20,640 Filter wrench included.I have all receipts since new. I have all manuals and the bike has newer very strong treaded Metzlers front and back(less than 2,000 miles on tires). It had a new tru gel battery a few years ago ( If I were to drive it hime from KS in Winter that is one preventative thing I might change but so far it is great. 20 degrees today started rightup and pictures were taken Christmans Eve 12/24/12. It sits on a good battery tender a lot. I have two classic BMW airheads a RT and a R 100 RS that get more of the local to home duty. Until Yesterday I had a classic 1972 Norton as well and the plan is to sell this , take the Norton Money and a stack of cash to get the new K 1600 GTL which costs an awful lot. so unfortunately some bikes have to go. When this bike comes out it is usually with the intent to gobble several states for breakfast. It is in perfect operating condition and I would have no hesitation of going to Belize if the roads were paved all the way. Its not a great dirt bike. I have all the receipts since new including the Service and tech bulletin, Riders manual, , supplementary riders manual and operating instructions. The K bike is the epitomy of comfort class, quiet and smooth riding. Very competent in the corners and it not afraid to get low and tight, I think of the Stratcona ride in BC Canada to Nootka Sound as a great example of speed and comfort driving.Title is clear with no liens. I paid cash in 2002. On the negative side, there are some scuffs on the sidebag handles from getting on and off over 11 years and 21,000 miles, there are a- few -very few visible paint blemishes consistent with age and use. Mostly paint is excellent and a rare BMW color.Overall, this would be an awesome bike for anyone who wants to see the country by cycle and does not want to be out a small ransom to get in to BMW quality. Heck a new Vespa 300 costs just a bit less than this bike will go for and will be in the scrap pile before this bike is hitting 50,000 miles. These bikes go forever and with great reliability, visibility, style and comfort. For many years the BMW has knocked the Gold Wing off the perch for Cycle Worlds best touring machine, and again this year.In all my years on BMW I do not believe I have ever seen one on the side of the road broken down, of any year or Vintage. I know it happens, but its rare. Dealers are very well placed Nationally and normally happy to arrange an oil change on a priority basis for those passing through on a schedule. BMW dealers are very very professional. Not cheap but professional. The clubs are very active and helpful. Most bikes I have seen broken down seem to be Harleys and maybe thats not a knock on Harleys so much as a tribute to their popularity and commonality. Harleys are very very common. For perfromance, reliability, commfort and class Nothing in my opinion beats a BMW. Don't be a commoner buy a Beemer In terms of creature comforts, This bike has ABS Brakes, electric windshield, it has reverse gear, front and rear heated seats, heated grips, outlets for heated clothes, am fm radio, CD and casette deck, great stereo, on board computer, all works on this-lo mile beauty. This is an incredible amount of bike for the money and sold for about 20,000+ dollars when new. Good luck- FREE DELIVERYwithin 200 map/google miles at buy it now price. (miles to empty, MPG, outside temperature, etc) or take 200 seller rebate from buy it now option if you want to drive home or pick up for transport Reserve is lower than Buy it now, but miles and care are so good here that if you really want it the buy it now is the way to go. The guy that bought My Norton did the buy it now and drove from Texas to get it before XMAS. Look at those pictures in feedback in my recent sales to get an idea of how I care for my bikes. This is the you snooze you lose bike of 2013, so far.
