Vehicle Detail
This car is a 1972 Volkswagon Super Beetle 1600cc Dual Port engine, three speed autostick transmission. Sale includes a good spare autostick transmission. A couple of things about this car are that the body and floors are solid and straight. It has a brand new coat of Marina Blue paint which is the original color. The paint is beautiful . This car never had any rust or dents to begin with. All of the glass is good. Prior to me acquiring the car, this 1972 VW sat stored in a heated garage for 20 years. I've owned it for nearly 3 years and it's been garaged. It shows 65,000 miles. I was told that mileage was actual and I believe it to be. The wear on the foot pedals , condition of the seats and interior appears consistent with 65,000 miles. The interior (blue) is not "mint" or "like new" but it is in pretty darn good condition. The seats don't have any rips in them. The drivers seat has a little worn spot wear you slide in and out. The carpet and door panels are in very good condition. The car has new brakes and battery and recent tires. It starts instantly and runs down the road smoothly. The few imperfections on it are - the rear bumper has some rust and pitting. The front bumper has light pitting. A couple of the hubcaps have some dings in them. The headliner had two small rips which I covered with white duct tape. The dash pad has a split in it. It has a Blaupunkt tape player but there is a cassette stuck in it so it doesn't work. Included with the car is a good spare autostick transmission (see photo). These transmissions are rare and a good one like this is worth several hundred dollars. I had the opportunity to acquire the extra transmission from an elderly Volkswagon mechanic who was retiring. I've been told by Volkswagon enthusiasts that this vehicle could be worth up to $5000. There is no reserve other than the opening bid so somebody might get a deal on a real nice 1972 Volkswagon Super Beetle. I believe you could drive it anywhere, but just remember folks, it is a 1972 Volkswagon Super Beetle. Please feel free to call me if you are a serious bidder (618)203-1646.
