Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a RARE MGC GT. I bought this car a few months ago as a package with another C GT. I would love to keep the car but the boss (wife) says it has to go. I would keep the car instead but it is much cheaper for me to keep her instead. My intention was to enjoy this car for a while while I fulfill my vision with the other one that I own. The car would be best described as DRIVER condition. This C was repainted recently but it is not concourse quality. I would rate it a 7.5-8 out of 10. The paint is glossy but has small flaws upon close inspection. Overall there is no rust ,the body is very straight and SOLID. Flaws (depicted in photos) include 2 small dings in the passenger side front fender (lower portion), a ding in the driver door and some minor bubbling in the paint above the molding on the driver side quarter panel. The car was solid as I understand with one minor floor repair in the past. The chrome is in EXCELLENT condition (bumpers and grill) with only minor flaws around the window trim. The interior needs minor attention. Most of it is nice and presentable with the exception of the tear in the passenger side lower seat cushion and the crack in the passenger side of the dash pad. Some carpet is missing near the lower console where it meets the transmission tunnel and underneath the driver floor mat. The car runs very strong, idles well, shifts smoothly and the overdrive works like a charm. Both brake boosters were rebuilt with the past 2 years (I think the time estimate is correct) and they are fully operational. The brakes squeek and there is a vibration when braking which is coming from the rotors. The tires look new because they still have the small nubs on them and there is PLENTY of tread. One of the tires on the car doesn't match (brand) but the spare does match. In other words 4 tires are the same and one is different. The wire wheels appear to be in nice shape and were repainted recently but not a perfect job. If I were to keep the car I would buy Minilites or New MWS wire wheels. Here are the mechanical and or electrical things that need attention: The car has a oil leak. You can see it where I park the car and sometimes you can smell the oil when it is running. It is a little bit more than the typical british car "DRIP". The speedometer doesn't work and I am pretty sure it is just a cable. The oil pressure and coolant gauge doesn't work either. When you turn on the wipers only the left one moves. The right one may have a linkage or wheel box problem. The muffler has a hole in it and the previous owner patched it do it isn't very loud but I would replace it. The horn works, the lights work, the signals work, overdrive works, gauge lights work etc. I have not spent anytime with this car as far as diagnosing things. I have been as honest as possible with my description and I believe this car can by near perfect with just a weekend or 2 of work. I can get the seats re upholstered if the buyer wishes for a small price. I do not have time to do anything else with the car right now. The car is being sold "AS is" without warranty. Near perfect expamples of this car sell for 20K and in some cases more. I have priced this car far lower than 20K due to the afforementioned in this ad. I think this car is a very honest example and will make someone very happy. I would highly encourage you to come see it before you buy. The car looks just as good in person as it does in the pictures. Car is located in Centreville, Maryland.
