Vehicle Detail

Ok Avanti fans here is a 1963 Avanti R2 with 4 speed manual transmission. R2 with Paxton Supercharger. Has power steering and power brakes. No AC as supercharged cars did not have AC available from the factory. I recently purchased this car here on eBay for my collection but it was grossly misrepresented and thus I have decided to let it go to someone that wants an R2 project. As you all know the R2 or R3 is the one to have. Here is the good and bad of the car. It runs and drives but has issues that I will try to describe as best I can. It has very nice red paint job that was probably done 15 years ago but still very nice. The chrome is OK, no rust through but it is original. I have one picture of what the chrome looks like. The window stainless trim is original also with no major issues. The interior is original with almost 50 years of normal wear and tear. It's not perfect but it's not trashed either. The rear seat is in very good condition. Dash board has signs of heat cracking here and there but it's acceptable. Headliner is dropping near rear window. The gauges all work except clock, the speedometer jumps but settles down while driving. Again the interior is original to the car and doesn't looked to have ever been updated. Now for the bad on the car. This car has 123,000 miles on the clock. The torque boxes or hog troughs are in bad shape and will need to be replaced. Someone tried to hide the damage by putting hand made steel covers pop riveted over the damage. As you all know one of the first questions you ask when purchasing an Avanti is the condition of the hog troughs. They were represented to me as OK but they are far from OK. The engine runs but has an issue with the #8 cylinder. It is extremely oily and thus causes extreme smoke and oil from the right side manifold and exhaust pipe while running. Also the engine has a miss that is probably related the overall engine condition. It has very good oil pressure and vacuum. Supercharger seems to operate fine but with the engine issues I have not had the opportunity to really work it. The car has 4 brand new tires on the correct rims and correct hubcaps. The left front kingpin has alot of play and will need to be addressed. This car is worth restoring but I don't have the time or desire to do it myself. This could be your really nice R2 with some time and money. I'll take as many additional pictures as you might need and I'll answer any questions about. Call me (Jim) about it 860-790-1296. The car has no warranties of any kind and the buyer is responsible for any pickup and transportation of the car. A $500 deposit through Paypal but not for payment of the car. Car will be sold with a "bill of Sale" as Connecticut is a non-title state for cars older than 20+ years so no title will or can be supplied but all paperwork that came with the car when I purchased it will be included. Make this car the restored classic it deserves to be. Good luck!!
