Up for auction is a 1966 Mercedes Benz 230 SL convertible classic car project. The car is 100% rust free being a pampered and garaged car all it's life. The body has no dents or rust and all brightwork (chrome) especially the front and rear bumpers are in immaculate condition. The paint has some scratches and minor scrapes in the hood edges that were a casualty when the engine was pulled out of the car for an overhaul, but the metal painted surface of the body has no dents/rust that needs to be repaired. A mere touch up paint to the scratches and a good polishing is sufficient to make the overall paint perfect. The condition of all glass and weatherstrips all around the car is impeccable as well. The gaps and alignment are all good and picture #11 seems to depict it is not only because the door was ajar when the picture was taken. The undercarriage is consistent with a grade one example of a "true survivor" and is all original metal with original undercoating material. No signs of any repair or cut-up bodywork anywhere in the body and chassis. The suspension is intact with new Bilstein shock absorbers and a brand new fuel pump. The original wheels and hubcaps are in great condition and mounted with almost brand new tires. The brake system including the park brake are fully functional. The interior is all intact, including the seats, dashboard, sidings, headliner were preserved extremely well with no rips, tears or unsightly excessive wear. The soft top inside the car has not seen much use especially the last 3 years but is in great shape. The electricals were all functional when the engine was pulled out of the car for overhaul. The carpet can use some cleaning and detailing especially because of the fact that I have used and is still using the cabin and trunk area as storage space for some of my personal stuff when I parked the car in an enclosed storage facility. The car is being sold as-is as a project because it is a non-runner due to the fact that it has no engine. The engine and it's ancillaries are forever gone and cannot be included in this sale because they were all lost in an automotive shop fire when they were pulled out of the car for an engine overhaul. The car would also need a battery because the battery had been used in another car already. The car has valid/current California registration, insurance and clear title or pink slip. The odometer on the car currently reads 2,397 but the odometer has already gone around once making the true reading actually 102,397 miles. The reason I am selling is because I have realized I have no time to find and to have installed a replacement engine for the car. Besides, as of 2 days ago, I have already taken the car out of the $400/month rented enclosed storage space facility. The car is currently parked out of state from where I am now at. The car is at a friend's backyard in Sun Valley, California, as the final pictures depict; under a brand new bought car cover, beside my classic Porsche 911S which I have decided to keep alone because I can drive it out to my new home after the holidays and unfortunately the Mercedes cannot.
