Vehicle Detail

Selling my beautiful 1982 CBX-1000. Last of the air cooled six cylinder motorcycles. I am the third owner of this great bike and last summer took a 1,200 mile trip through Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota. Oil consumption was nil although the 6 thirsty carburetors yielded but 30 MPG. Having owned a number of liter-bikes I would say that the big six cylinder was quicker from 60-80MPH than any of the BMW's that I've owned. Throttle response is instantaneous and the bike pulls freely through the RPM range. All electrics work as they should including the added driving lights. I replaced the tires in June after my trip - Bridgestones - along with new valve stems. The chain was re-tensioned at that time and an oil change was performed. There are no leaks from the cases. The paintwork and fairing are original and really in good shape except for a few blemishes on the hard cases which show in the photos. The seat is in fine condition except for what appears to be a cigarette burn in one spot - wasn't me - I don't smoke! The motor is a little cold-blooded but once running is everything one would expect from this 105HP engine. It does not smoke. She likes a little choke until up to operating temp. She'll idle nicely once warm. I would think though that the carbs are going to need some attention at some point. They are nicely synchronized right now and do not leak. The pads and rotors are within specification. The big dual front rotors are not warped and braking in general is good. The transmission shifts nicely through the gears. The factory tool kit is in perfect shape. Sale includes factory shop manual on CD. Please email your questions. I have described the motorcycle as honestly as I can and welcome your questions. That said I am not willing to end the auction early for a price, will not ship out of country, don't want to disclose the reserve etc., etc. If you are in Denver, CO you may come by and put your eyes on her. Happy bidding!
