I bought this car as a restoration project and I give up! It's a 1978 450SL with a rebuit engine and it's being sold as a PARTS CAR! Something went wrong with the engine. The heads on this have car have four plugs that restrict the water and if they are not tight, water enters the head, which it did. Then the car sat for 6 months which destroyed the cams, which was heartbreaking. Because of those loose plugs, water seeped into the heads and didn’t show up in the oil. THERE IS NO WATER IN THE OIL and never has been! This motor had new mains, polished crank, block fluxed, new rings custom ordered from DEVES, the whole nine! ... including new timing chain with all new guides. I have the appropriate documentation. It runs but needs another head job and I never got past the engine in my restoration of this car. It’s got a lot of good PARTS and a NEW engine if you wish to go through the heads. I have another project and I just want out of it. No reasonable offer refused.
