Vehicle Detail

1964 Ford Fairlane Sports Coupe with the 289 V8 and 4 speed up for auction. Survivor type Sports Coupe that is quite straight and original. As most classics it appears better in pictures than seeing it live. Starts, shifts, steers, stops although I wouldn't consider it road worthy. However if you would like to drive it home at minimum it needs a new battery. Also you would be welcome to the shop with hoist to check it over; tires, fluids, etc. Considering it has rust on the quarters and two spots on the rear of the frame, and floor supports it is quite solid with solid floors. Paint looks like it could be original although it's not, perhaps an older laquer job that looks patinaed from age, the roof looks fine although a closer look will reveal a fist sized dent above the passenger's window. Glass seems good. Trim and chrome is quite straight. The interior looks good with the exception of the driver seat which should have the cover re-stitched or replaced. Also it smells like an old car that had a mouse in it as the headliner has a nickel to quarter size hole in it above the passenger side. Mileage odometer is unknown, how could I possibly know this? Odometer reads like 13k I haven't been able to put many miles on it, with the exception of around town. Battery is weak, but if I drive it consistently starts and runs fine. Idles well, shifts well, at a minimum it needs an alignment as it seems to wonder a bit. The brakes work but need attention. Upon slowing to a stop sign they grind a bit and may squeak. Basically, it's a good old car that needs a little tlc and do what you want with it. Drive it, , clean it, restore it, modify it. I'm no fairlane expert, but it is quite complete and unmodified. I have another one which is quite original which color I prefer, but this one seems to be more original. It's stored inside and will remain inside until you or your transporter pick it up. I'm not an old car dealer, but do love old cars so I've obtained a few. I have an RV dealership therefore if you are a MN resident I'll charge you sales tax and fees and transfer the title to you. If you are not a MN resident I'll just five you the title and can issue a 31 day permit if you'd like to drive it immediately. $50 doc fee regarless. Payment must clear before car is released or pick up with cash. I recently went on a 68 fairlane search, now coming back to this 64 I've appreciated it a bit more. Just something about the way the doors, windows, trunk and hood fit, feel, and operate is solid and smooth. You are very welcome to come and inspect the car inside the shop on or off the hoist before Saturday preferably. Please feel free to ask questions at 507 274 6166 during business hours. Thank you for looking and bidding. On Nov-30-12 at 06:33:08 PST, seller added the following information: Email is the best way to reach me. Please bid with an account that has some history and feedback. On Dec-01-12 at 10:48:15 PST, seller added the following information: Sorry for the brain dead response to an earlier question. The first under carriage photo has rust that's hard to see on the horizontal floor rails. The fifth picture from the end you can see some rust right where the frame meets the rear bumper support. Also, if you look closely underneath the rear spring shackle hole on each side you'll see some rust. Thank you
